Scandal Alert! Aaron Thomas From Masterchef Australia Charged With Embezzlement Of Millions

I am just about to run out the door to a meeting so will do a “proper” story on this later. But I thought you guys would LOVE to discuss this.

Masterchef Australia contestant Aaron Thomas has been charged with embezzling over $7 million from the mining company he was CEO for.

He was on season one of the Masterchef I think he was the lotions and potion kid who went to work for George Calombaris.

Here is the story about his lavish lifestyle on news.com.au

The question is not how did he embezzle all that money but how he managed to become CEO of a company by the age of 26 years of age?

At least he was good at cooking the books.

Looks like the kind of guy who’ll be eating a lot of chorizo in jail.

This article had him working in finance – http://www.throng.com.au/2013/09/masterchef-where-are-they-now-seasons-1-to-3/

Well, financing himself to the hilt I suppose.

Even looking at his photo I STILL do not remember him. 7 million huh? Should have cut his losses and done a runner overseas and disappeared in some remote country.

I remember him, he was the one who was spouting about molecular gastronomy and kept saying he was better then everyone. Got cut fairly early on when he screwed up a Tarte Tartin. During the elimination George said he has a invite to work for him. (ok i have a freaky memory:)

WA in last 10 years was the Wild West.
A rerun of the 80s with Bondy.
As long as you had front, you could make it.

He might be able to plate up some good prison dinners now.

So he didn’t take up the offer to work for George then? Of course he was looking for money and from memory, George was even too tight to pay his staff penalty rates.

George is probably now thinking, “I wondered what happened to that $5”.

Wasn’t he the one who used molecular gastronomy to make peas out of peas? Except they didn’t taste as good as peas? If so, yes, I remember him. An absolute fuckwit. I never would have believed he’d have had the nous to pull off something like this. As Paul Whitehouse famously said, it takes cunning, understanding, nous and tenacity.

(I might have got a bit off track there…)

He can nominate himself as chef in the prison’s kitchen. Better make sure his molecular gastronomy works or else he will turn into minced meat

Gidgetvonlarue – considering his girlfriend is Brazilian.

From the article:

“Mr Thomas also paid $20,000 for breast implants for Ms Rodrigues, according to documents attached to his affidavit in the UK court case.”

Will these “assets” be frozen as well, and will the company try to claim them back.

So, no office-party dwarf tossing competitions then? Pretty standard ways to spend his ill-gotten gains.

Maybe if there is a series 2 Aaron can get onto this show:

Dr T, there was also Conviction Kitchen, where crims got to showcase their culinary chops, like Parole Pudding, Bail Bolognese and Soap In The Shower Souffle etc

Porridge!

Didn’t this guy used to brag about how rich his dad was or something like that? It’s amazing how brazenly he stole the cash.

On the Wild West recall that Gurner Kelly is a company director and ex-mining company high-flyer.

Holy crap! I am with you RR. How on earth did a 26 year old with no discernible experience become CEO of a multi million dollar company.

21 brain dead dave { 04.02.14 at 11:13 pm }

I’m sure he reaped some valuable knowledge in the art of deception from $hine and the Ma$terchef experience.

22 Littlepetal { 04.03.14 at 7:37 am }

Just read that he actually founded the company and still owns 25% of the company.

23 Reality Raver { 04.03.14 at 11:28 am }

Little Petal – Was there actually any mine?

Maz – Agree don’t get it. The other 75% shareholders must be stupid also it appeared he was running the company from New York.
