My Kitchen Rules – Helena And Vikki The Real Winners?

vikki and Helena

They may not have secured the $250,000 first prize but Vikki and Helena from the latest series of My Kitchen Rules are making hay whilst the sun shines.

The pair are the only ones to get a cookbook deal which of course will be Greek. They also are off to Greece in July on the back of that deal and are hoping to come back with a TV travel show.

To be honest there cooking was not that fabulous so not sure how well the book will sell but good on them for getting it. It will go on sale next February, this of course coincides with the launch of the next series of MKR.

Vikki and Helena also told news.com.au that they are looking to get as many deals as possible and are very positive about their time on the show.

They said:

Helena told AAP that even though they came fourth and received no prizemoney, theMy Kitchen Rules experience has been financially rewarding.

“Everything has been pretty crazy [since the show ended] and we try and get as many deals as we can,” Helena said in-between judging competitions at Paniyiri Greek Festival in Brisbane.

“We’ve already won in our eyes because of all the teams, we were the only ones who got a book deal.” The manuscript for the twin’s Greek cookbook has to be completed by the end of the week.

Helena said there was no reason to alter the prizemoney to give the runners-up or even third and fourth placegetters some financial reward.

She said she was richer for simply being on the series.

“I don’t think so (prizemoney for second and third),” Helena said.

Dan and Steph winners from the previous season are also going to be putting a cookbook out.

“I think if you go on there, you should be grateful for the experience. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity and you can’t go on it being greedy.

“We took it seriously but we had so much fun and we were lucky to get the chance to experience that.”

Pleash don’t give them their own TV show. I can’t bear to hear them shpeak.
Last night Will i am said you don’t need to have a good voice to have people in the music industry scrambling to work with you. You just had to look good and be able to put on a show. Well looks like you don’t need to be a chef or good cook to have people willing to help launch a career in cookery.

I doubt they really ‘write’ the book – there would have to be a ghostwriter or 10 on hand to do that … actually, wouldn’t that be the case for all these reality contestants’ books – MasterChef included? Especially as I thought even the recipes they used on MKR were pre-determined – that the contesants didn’t come up with these; the producers did.

Dave, I agree with you – they’re bloody hard to understand.

Mrs Diogenes and I were at the Worlds Biggest Carboot Sale in Newcastle – we couldn’t even give cook books away (included Hestons & Jamies) – can’t see much of a market anymore
