Big Brother’s Ben Zabel Speaks Out About The Lack Of Support For Mental Health Issues In The Workplace

Ben Zabel the popular housemate from last year’s Big Brother speaking about the lack of support from Virgin Australia for his mental health issues will resonate with many people.

Ben wrote on his Facebook feed that just shy of being with the company for ten years he was lost his job. This meant he was just six months shy of long service leave.

He writes:

A year ago I was ‘dismissed’ from Virgin Australia as I suffered severe anxiety & depression, & was no longer ‘fit’ to fly I was just 5 months short of 10 years long service, & a free return trip for two, to the USA

Most States allow a pro rata payment of LSL entitles after a certain number of years if your terminated eg in NSW you get a portion of LSL if you are terminated (as opposed to resinging) after 7 years service.
The free ticket sounds like a Virgin benefit.

That’s what I thought, he still would have been entitled to something.
How is his tv career going?
I bet they will find a way to get him back into the BB house.

He has a regular slot on the Channel 9 Mornings show reviewing movies, and he does radio in Brisbane now and then also, so I would say that his post Big Brother career is going well.
I think he and Tim are meant to be going to the U.S soon for a holiday.

I think Tim is trying to turn their trip into a reality show . I hope he does not dud him on the trip
