It is a best of show of AGT from the last five years. Chances of me watching it is low, however a few of my readers maybe.

The press release states (yes I know lazy blogging):

Channel Seven’s Australia’s Got Talent has been the nation’s number one variety show for five years, and to celebrate host Grant Denyer is taking us on a look back at all the weird and wonderful performances in Australia’s Got Amazing Talent.

Over the years the time-slot has changed… the set changed… even some of the judges changed… but the one thing that has remained the same is that Australia does indeed have talent.

The nation’s largest talent quest has travelled to every corner of the country, unearthing stars and kick-starting the careers of some of Australia’s biggest names in entertainment, from Justice Crew to Mark Vincent. Over four million Australians watched 14-year-old schoolboy Jack Vidgen take out the $250,000 grand final prize this year.

Plenty of programs might call themselves ‘variety shows’ but none can match the extraordinary diversity of Australia’s Got Talent. There are the customary singers, dancers and all that jazz, but Australia’s Got Talent is also responsible for some of the most bizarre and jaw-dropping TV moments the country has seen – from contortionists, acrobats and yodelers to sword swallowers and even a spoon player. Then there’s that last category that can only be labeled as ‘Miscellaneous’ (looking at you, Watermelon Man).

Australia’s Got Amazing Talent will revel in the memorable moments from the first five series, including all the antics and acerbic comments from judges Dannii Minogue, Red Symons, Tom Burlinson, Kyle Sandilands and Brian McFadden. And it’s coming soon to Channel Seven.

The article states:

Police were alerted to death threats made against the 14-year-old, tipped to win the AGT grand final tomorrow night, on his Facebook page.

NSW police would not release details of the Facebook page and said they would investigate if a formal complaint was made by a member of the Vidgen family.

I mean seriously the kid is 14 years old he doesn’t need this stress. Yesterday in the Herald Sun Nikki Webster advised Jack to go overseas for his career as she thinks there is too much tall poppy syndrome here. Maybe she is right.

One of the front runners is 14 year old Jack Vidgen. On Tuesday night he sang in the final with the show saying he had wrote the song ‘Yes I Am’.

Australia’s leading TV blog TV Tonight remembered a similar scenario from Australian Idol a few years ago and decided to investigate.

The TV Tonight article states he found out the song ‘Yes I Am’ had been co-written the song with Erina Clark, the singing coach from Australian Idol, something not stated on the show.

He also writes:

The spokesperson [Sony] said the song was constructed to reflect the journey Vidgen has had with the show, thrust in the spotlight with over a million hits on YouTube. They denied the song already existed and merely tweaked with a lyric in order to give Vidgen a composer credit.

Indeed, in the music industry many pop stars have been known for adding a handful of lyrics in order to land a credit and the subsequent royalties.

But it isn’t the first time a TV talent show has neglected to outline a song’s origins.

In 2004 Australian Idol told its viewers Dianne Warren had written “Listen To Your Heart” especially for series winner Casey Donovan -but the song had actually been recorded in 1998 by gospel singer CeCe Winans.

Sony also said Jack wrote the lyrics and collaborated on the lyrics.

Jack Vidgen is a great talent and is one of the favourites to win, so the show doesn’t have to put him under more pressure by being unclear on the song writing credits.

The Daily Telegraph reports both Brian McFadden and Kyle Sandilands were met when they got of the flight, as there were allegations of smoking in the toilets.

The article said:

IT WAS the middle of the night, high above the Pacific, when some sleeping passengers were woken by laughs and loud conversation on the red-eye flight from LA to Sydney early yesterday.

The noise appeared to be coming from the bar at the rear of the business class cabin, where singer Brian McFadden and best mate Kyle Sandilands were perched.

No one else was seated on the purple leather bar stools of the V Australia Boeing 777, where the pair was enjoying a chat and a “few” beverages.

The duo was toasting their return to start auditions for Australia’s Got Talent and Irish crooner McFadden’s tipple of choice was a vodka mixer. It was all good fun, until things turned serious.

Flight attendants apparently became aware of the smell of cigarette smoke wafting through the aircraft.

No alarms were set off but they were certain someone, against regulations, had been smoking in the lavatory.

An “aggressive” conversation then ensued between McFadden, Sandilands and the flight crew, with repeated denials from the former Boyzone singer that he was the culprit. Sandilands backed his buddy, exclaiming “there is no way” McFadden would smoke on a plane.

“They were arguing, a lot of us heard it,” Ryan, an economy passenger from Camperdown, said.

Standard protocol was followed by the cabin crew and Sydney Airport was radioed and told there had been an incident with two passengers.

“Smoking, aggressive behaviour and not following the orders of staff,” was the initial brief relayed to the Australian Federal Police, who were waiting at the gate when the plane touched down at 8.30am. McFadden and Sandilands were escorted off the aircraft and interviewed.

In the initial media reports on radio there was no mention of popular DJ and judge on Australia’s Got Talent. It has been reported before Kyle Sandiland does not drink alcohol, but he does smoke. But obviously the finger must have been pointed at Brian.

Anyway as usual they have both come across as a couple of arrogant gits.

Also listeners of his show will now realise he had not been live on breakfast radio that morning because he was on the plane. However I doubt that revelation will make a dint in his radio ratings. (Source: Daily Telegraph)

Channel Seven has renewed the show for another season. The ratings with the new judges Kyle Sandilands and Brian McFadden, as well with AGT stalwart Danni Minogue has been a ratings winner, even beating Masterchef Australia.

Today in the Herald Sun Brian McFadden has said he will move to the US to try and crack their music market. He must be feeling confident he will make it as in the same article he disses his TV career.  

The article states:

McFadden said after his time on AGT he had decided that music, not TV, was his true calling.

“I’ve never really been interested in TV,” he said. “It’s not really my thing. Being on stage and singing is the passion and that’s what I want to do.”

So does this mean he won’t be on Australia’s Got Talent next year? Hopefully the show will give his spot to someone who would love the opportunity to be on this reality TV show.

According to the Herald Sun Brian McFadden defended his behaviour whilst at the MTV awards.

The article states:

“F— her, she was an idiot,” McFadden said on the MTV red carpet. “They edited it out anyway.”

The former boy band member told his version of events to Today Tonight and said Ferguson-Howe was the one who started cursing on the show in front of children.

“I didn’t want this woman standing on our stage screaming profanities when there’s children in the audience,” McFadden said last night.

“I’d say it to her again if she ever did that again in front of an audience of kids.”

Well there you go. That quote gives new meaning to the word spin. All you PR people resign now because you are not going to be able to do better then that.
