Hot Rumour On SYTYCD Australia – Jessica P Out Injured, Jess S Back In
If rumours are correct on Twitter it would appear ballroom dancer Jessica P has pulled out of So You Think You Can Dance Australia because of injury, and this means the most recent eliminated girl, Jess S is back in.
We all saw ballroom dancer Jessica struggling last week with her back, however she must be bitterly disappointed as she did a have a big fan base.
Anyway Jess S should go and buy a lottery ticket as it is her lucky day. I presume this means she will again be dancing with Keiran this week.
UPDATE: It is now official Jessica P is out, and Jess S is back in. Thanks Joysant.

So You Think You Can Dance – And Now There Are Eight
There was no big surprises in the bottom two. It was a no brainer that the injured Jessica P, would be there, and I think it has been shown week after week, that Jess S has not been connecting to the voters.
However I was surprised that Jess S went ahead of Jessica P this week, whose dancing was the worst of the lot last night. It must have been frustrating for her as she got some good reviews last night. Matt Lee gushed at her and said he would work with her anytime.
I was a bit surprised at Keiran being in the bottom two ahead of Nick. Have we got another Hillsong scandal brewing?
Matt’s solo was ordinary, and really does not have the body to dance shirtless. It was his time to go, however he probably wasn’t happy about the TV Week this week as this would not have help garner him votes.
The new partners next week are:
- Phillipe and Carly;
- Nick and Jessie;
- Robbie and Ivy; and
- Keiran and Jessica.

So You Think You Can Dance – The Top Ten – The Great, Good, and The Ordinary
Now this is when it gets interesting on SYTYCD Australia, as this is the week we find out who has been carrying whom for the last few weeks. There were some seriously good routines, which may even get me to pick up the phone and vote for once.
Matt and Carly - Jazz- Cameron Mitchell – Orianthi According to you
Does anyone else think Cameron Mitchell looks like a younger John Michael Howson? Carly needed to harden the fuck up all that crying is probably is going to cost her votes. Carly out danced Matt in this routine. I thought he was particularly non charismatic tonight. But over all I thought the lift was good and strong.
The judges loved it. Matt Lee thought that they had both been previously been outdanced by their other partners, so they were able to shine tonight. I am not sure if the subtext was your both ordinary dancers, so when you dance together you are not ordinary.
Robbie and Jessie – Hip Hop – Jason Bird and Katie Cesaro, Radiohead
I don’t like hip hop that much, but I loved this. This pair were mesmerising in this piece. Bonnie Lythgoe was weepy (rolls eyes) she was so emotionally engaged with the routine.
Matt Lee said they dance with the most maturity, considering they are the youngest in the competition.
I think the judging panel just had a simultaneous orgasm watching it.
Jessica and Nick – Paul Malak – Contemporary – 30 seconds to Mars – Kings & Queens
Jessica was having some back and pelvis problems, so this elicited the usual “this is the life of the dancer” comment from Jason Coleman.
Jessica did seem little gingerly in her attack of the routine, and one of their lifts was botched. I am not sure they should tell us about dancer’s injuries, as I think this will not help her with the votes. Also it put me on notice that she was likely to stuff up.
Matt thought the injury had hindered the routine. Jason Gilkison thought Nick was a lumpy partner.
Keiran and Jess – Samba – Gossip “Pop Goes The World”
I thought Jess popped in this routine. However the pouty lips got a bit annoying at some stage. I thought she also made Kieran look sexy and masculine.
Jason Gilkison loved Jess, however Jason Coleman thought Jess was under. However he liked Kieran in the routine.
Ivy and Phillipe – Contemporary – Sher Manu – Counting Crows
They keep on saving the costume allowance with Phillipe, again he is shirtless. He is officially the Dimitri of this competition. And gosh the whole routine was hot. Helped that they are probably the two most attractive dancers in the competition. Phillipe could be a surprise top four if he gets lucky with choreography and partners.
Again the whole judging panel had a simultaneous orgasm and gushed about the routine.
Matt and Carly – Hip Hop – Supple – Chelley I Took The Night
I really liked this routine which was apparently vogueing, which is back in fashion. I did think at times Carly looked a bit like a gymnast, rather then a dancer. But overall Carly danced it well except she does dance with her mouth open.
I agree with Jason G I think it start strong and faded in the middle a bit.
Jason C thought it was not vogueing but more jazz.
Robbie and Jessie – Sarah Boulter – Contemporary – The Strokes
Now I thought this triumvirate were going to produce something akin to finding the holy grail. But to me they didn’t. I absolutely hated the costumes and thought it detracted from the routine. I liked the routine but it did not have the emotional impact on me like their first one did.
But maybe I did not “get it” as Jason Coleman kind of hinted that the lay person at home may not.
Nick and Jessica – Quick step – Leeanne Bampton – Gin Wigmore – Under My Skin
Again this was stilted, I think Nick should have been the one to go last week and Heath stayed in. He was underwhelming.
Jason Gilkison thought it was a pretty good job, but Jason C did not think they used the music, and he wanted Jessica to be better in the routine.
I think this pair will be walking the plank tomorrow night.
Keiran and Jess – Hip Hop – Juliette Verne – Alicia Keys Put It in A Love Song
I wan’t quite convinced by Keiran’s pelvic thrusts, and I thought Jess overworked her face, but she danced it really well.
Jason Coleman loved Jess in the routine, and thought Keiran was not great. Which was basically what all the others thought.
Phillipe and Ivy – Jazz – Project Moda – The Pointer Sisters – Neutron Dance
I don’t think I am a fan of Project Moda, for one brilliant routine, they do about four mediocre ones. I thought Phillipe shone more in this routine than Ivy. I thought he has more natural facial expressions. WhereasI thought Ivy was too bubbly. Yes, yes I realise the story of the routine was they were the life of the party, but it was just too manic.
Jason G thought the routine was quite light. Jason C said it did not grab him. I think he was underwhelmed by the choreography rather then the dancing.
I think Jessica and Nick will be eliminated tomorrow night. The other couples in the bottom three will be Matt and Carly, and Keiran and Jess.

So You Think You Can Dance Australia – Apparently Matt Has Attitude

Well that is what this week’s edition of TV Week is saying.
In an article written about a photo shoot at Luna Park with the dancers, by the sounds of it the TV Week staffers were not too impressed by Matt’s attitude.
The article said:
While the majority of the dancers were all smiles, despite the 6am call time for our shoot, one of the reality stars was in serious need of a reality check.
Matt, the supposed cheeky chappie of the bunch, shocked TV WEEK staffers with his four-letter outburst when we asked him to get his hair and make-up done – then later, he kicked up a stink about having to carry his own bag.
As several of his fellow dancers told us, however, this behaviour was no one-off.
“I don’t know who he thinks he is,” one of the contestants tells TV WEEK. “He’s a dancer, not some big celebrity.”
“He’s the one contestant with an attitude,” seconds another. “None of us want to tick him off because he just blows up and we don’t need that in our life. We don’t want that [negative] energy to ruin our day.”
“People are definitely starting to show their true colours now,” weighs in a third. “I stay away from certain personalities, because I just can’t deal with them.”
Also the article goes on to say the rumours are not true that there is a budding romance between Keiran and Carly.
The article goes onto talk about how Jess S has had issues with her two partners, Doug and Nick, as they have been married and engaged.
The article says:
After having been paired with two men – Doug and Nick - who are either married or engaged, Jess S admits she often felt that her partners put a barrier up.
“Because they both have significant others, it’s like there’s a wall there that I have to try and break through, ” she reveals. “I can’t touch them the way I want to because they have these boundaries. It’s much easier to get that connection with a gay guy, as they don’t care.”
“Nick is a great partner, but we’re very different because he’s religious and quite conservative,” she continues. “I’ve never really had an open conversation with him; I just can’t get through to him the way I want to.”

So You Think You Can Dance Australia – Is Jess A Protected Species?
Is Jess some sort of protected species on So You Think You Can Dance Australia? She has hit the bottom three more times then anyone else this season, and I thought her solo was a bit the same as her previous one.
Jessia S who I thought would be in danger this week gave a great solo in her ballroom genre with her paso doble routine.
Also I thought Renee’s solo as better than Jess’s but maybe Jason Coleman’s declaration that he “likes his dancers pretty” came into play in that decision.
I also noted that Renee and Jessica S were holding hands as the verdicts were delivered but they were not touching Jess.
Thank you to Phillipe for providing a community service and dancing with his top off. It clearly gave his maori style solo much more impact.
I thought Heath’s solo much better than Nick’s. In fact I found his technique to be a bit weak, but maybe he has shown more growth in the competition than Heath, and that is why he was eliminated. Considering Jason even said Nick’s solo was weak, and Heath’s was stronger they punted him. I think it was the wrong decision was made.

So You Think You Can Dance – The Top 12
So You Think You Can Dance is struggling for ratings this year with it way under the magic million mark. Is this because of the new night it is showing on a Wednesday night? I think it does fit better in the Sunday night spot. Or maybe people are getting sick of the genre. The US version of the show here bombed last time it was shown, and they have not even bothered showing hte latest season.
Unfortunately Ten’s second channel is a sport one.
A few thoughts on tonight’s episode:
- Robbie and Ivy’s Debbie Ellis routine was great it will be interesting to see how they go next week with different partners;
- The Mary Poppins routine was perfect for Heath because he was able to really camp it up, conversely I was a fan of Jessica’s but she is losing me, she is just not hitting any new heights;
- And if you didn’t know Matt Lee will be starring in Mary Poppins later on in the year you do now;
- Renee and Phillipe’s hip hop routine song, was set to Wade Robson’s music, is there anything that guy cannot do?
- Can we just talk about Jess’s tattoo down her left side – is this something she is going to regret in 10 year’s time? By the way I am not sure Jess is connecting with the audience if she makes top ten it will be interesting to see if she gets votes;
- Carly was ordinary in the salsa with Kieran and needs to keep her mouth shut when she dances;
- I get the feeling Matt will be gone if he lands in the bottom three;
- Move over Tania Zaetta, Ivy is coming to Mumbai, it was perfect for her, I wondered if that was a bit rigged that her and Robbie got that genre;
- Underwhelmed by Heath and Jessica’s sloppy hip hop, did Nacho Pop choreograph it or is off still flipping burgers somewhere?
- I really liked Jess in the Gabrielle Climi routine. I thought there were some partnerwork issues, but that could have been Nick being tentative after his injury in rehearsal;
- The pinochhio routine is going to take put Keiran and Carly into the bottom three, that choreographer Yianni needs to be sacked, but then Bonnie thought it was the best routine of the night – Go Figure;
- Pasha and Anya are still here in Australia +2, Phillipe having his shirt buttoned up -1. By the way why has noone interviewed Anya and Pasha?
- The Square Divison routine was well danced but just not exciting enough.
Bottom Three prediction: Carly and Keiran, Heath and Jessica; Renee and Phillipe.

So You Think You Can Dance Australia – Exit Interviews

These are a bit late but here are the exit interviews from the first four dancers eliminated.
Go Who Mag to see what Mikheala and Gaz have to say. Unfortunately Gaz picked Grace to win but she was eliminated the week after him.
And here is an interview with Ilona and Will who were first dancers to be eliminated. Will still won’t reveal who he is engaged to. Apparently they are a lead in another show, but not a dancer. Does anyone want to take a wild guess? I have no idea.

So You Think You Can Dance Australia – And Now There Are 12
Did Kelley Abbey get a leave pass from the judging panel tonight? Very unusual that a guest judge only on the panel for the performance show. Maybe she was caught up in Fame rehearsals. By the way are tickets on sale for the show yet?
Also have Natalie Bassingthwaighte’s boobs double in size since she has become pregnant? Wow.
It was no surprise that Don and Issi, and Phillipe and Renee were in the bottom three. I was slightly surprised by Matt and Jessie, as I thought their routine was pretty good. But as a reader (akris) of this site noted under last night’s blog post, that jazz routines in weird costumes never do very good. Well they were spot on.
I think Phillipe’s solo was pretty underwhelming and in a stronger bottom three would have put him at risk of elimination. Matt’s was definitely the best. Don tried but I had seen a lot of those moves before.
The girls were much stronger. Jessie was amazing, Renee was great, and Issi’s was original but a bit too cutsie.
No surprise Issi and Don were eliminated. I feel sorry for Don, I got the feeling he never got started in the competition as he never really clicked with Issi and you knew an elimination was inevitable once they both hit the bottom three. Considering he auditioned three times, and was probably one of the strongest B Boys the competition has had his elimination was a bit sad.

So You Think You Can Dance – Top 14 Performance Show
The producers and judges were not very happy with the Australia voters last week, as they have changed the format, you can now vote from the beginning of the show. Australian Idol tried that last year, I am not sure if it had an impact on who stayed and who went.
Just a few thoughts on the show:
- I think Issi is sucking the Mojo out Don, metaphorically speaking – I think it is time for them to go;
- Robbie was amazing in the routine even though with the moustache he reminded me of Prince, and Ivy was a little Sheila E. Ivy now she has flicked Gaz and stopped gabbing so much is looking like a major threat;
- Jessica and Heath were good, but I am a bit over the the depressing plots of the contemporary routines;
- Keiran and Carly also did a good contemporary routine, but I think Carly over dances;
- I really loved Matt and Jessica’s routine, I guess Matt’s ankle must be getting better as he put a lot of weight through it;
- I thought Phillipe and Renee’s waltz was boring and looked a little awkward;
- Jess outdanced Nick in their old school hip hop routine, but he looked low on energy compared to her;
- Again I thought Jason Coleman took a swipe at Adam Williams about the Chicago routine, is there some history there?
Bottom three predictions – Issi and Don, Heath and Jessica, and Renee and Phillipe.
