An Australian Version Of The Apprentice To Be Made – Out Of Work Finance Guys Celebrate

Practicing His Your Fired Face
Practicing His Your Fired Face

An Australian version of The Apprentice is going to made an on our TV screens by the end of the year. I am pretty excited even though it is being done by Channel 9, but reality TV gurus Fremantle Media will be producing it for them.

The local format would be less ostentatious and maintain a quintessential Australian feel.

Mark Bouris the CEO of Wizard Finance will play the role of Donald Trump. This is great news as Mark does have charisma and the good looks required to be on TV, and hopefully he will be practising his best “You’re fired!” voice with a hard arsed look on his face. I wonder who his two off-siders will be? Also let’s hope for a guest appearance from one of the Trumps (except perhaps Ivana).

The winner will get a job with Bouris on a six figure income. Chances of 10o’s of out of work finance guys applying  – high.

I wish 9 would bring back the US and the UK versions.

Maybe Ch9 will have better luck with this part of real estate related TV show.

If Fremantle Media are involved, I’ll definitely take a look. As with all shows, it’ll succeed or fail on the casting. Fingers crossed they get it right.

A question: is Mark Bouris really the Australian equivalent of the Donald or Sir Alan?

What about John Symond? Hee.

With that voice, I think must people would tune out.

Didn’t seven have the UK version and ran it for a few weeks then buried it in a late timeslot. It got good reviews.

I think Mark Bouris is a great choice, he isn’t a show pony or a notable attention seeker so the show won’t be about him. But he should have a good screen presence this guy has charisma. Is he as rich the Donald or Sir Alan probably not, but he is self made and has a reasonably large bullshit detector.

Wurtsemmel – maybe John Symonds was there next choice. He could certainly house all the contestants in that mansion of his.

Love the UK version, US not so much after the first 1-2 seasons. The UK version is available on YouTube if you’re keen. Will be interesting to see how they modify the format for the Aus version. Absolutely right it will live/die on casting. Masterchef should prove to producers you really need diversity in casting to make it interesting. This is one of the reasons Home Made is such a flop…too homogenous.
