Reality Stars on Mardi Gras
The 2012 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras was held on the weekend, with American drag superstar RuPaul dismissing forty back-up dancers at the last minute because she wanted to perform solo.
An insider spoke to The Daily Telegraph, saying it was a shock for the dancers, who prepared and rehearsed all day. However, once RuPaul finished her musical number, the troupe of dancers got to do their part, even without the ‘star’.
Meanwhile, another diva was making noise on the saturday, as a bare-chested Kyle Sandilands was trolling around on popular gay men’s ‘dating’ iPhone app, Grindr. His newly-made profile was under the name ‘big gold mic’ and its welcome message was “Happy Mardi Gras darls x”.
Grindr is generally used to cruise for sex, with GPS navigating so people can locate other online members just kilometres away. As Sandilands’s manager explained, “he did it as a joke”. Apparently, the shock jock thought it would be funny to create a profile, after seeing someone else playing with Grindr during an Australia’s Got Talent recording. Could it be Grant Denyer or Brian McFadden?!
Speaking of Australia’s Got Talent, judge Dannii Minogue is in Sydney for the talent quest, but also attended the Mardi Gras to watch sister Kylie perform. However, Dannii’s partner, Kris Smith gave the show a miss as he spent the weekend in Melbourne on ‘daddy duties’ while having a ‘lad’s weekend’. The Football Superstar host said that the Mardi Gras just isn’t his thing.
While Kris hasn’t embraced the gay culture of Mardi Gras, Home and Away‘s Dan Ewing loves to call himself ‘gay-friendly’. The actor and contestant on last year’s Dancing with the Stars, attended the Belvedere/DNA party at the Beresford and was often asked about his sexual orientation. For those who don’t know, DNA is an Australian gay magazine, featuring half-naked models. In the Daily Telegraph’s Sydney Confidential, Ewing says he doesn’t “have a problem going to gay clubs and hanging out on Oxford Street” and attended the event with his fiancé, Marni Little.

Brian McFadden Says Kyle Sandilands is Depressed
Kyle Sandilands fellow judge on Australia’s Got Talent and close mate Brian McFadden has told the Daily Telegraph that Kyle is depressed and that is why he has been off sick from work. He has missed his breakfast radio show, plus was a no show at the Melbourne auditions for Australia’s Got Talent.
The article said:
According to McFadden, the highly paid party boy had “been really down. I think everything’s getting on top of him,” McFadden said yesterday.
“When we say he’s sick it’s more than just being in bed with the flu. I don’t know if it’s depression, he’s just not a happy camper at the moment.”
However what was most interesting about the article was Brian’s theory that NINE were going to put The Voice up on a Tuesday night against Australia’s Got Talent so there can be some ex-girlfriend/boyfriend rivalry between him and Delta Goodrem who is a judge on the new show. This sounds like a conspiracy theory that he has cooked up himself.

Is Kyle Sandilands Going To Get The Chop From Australia’s Got Talent?
It was reported over the weekend that Kyle Sandilands did not turn up to the Melbourne auditions of Australia’s Got Talent. At the time it was unclear if he had informed the producers that he was not going to show up.
However reports today in the Herald Sun indicate that maybe he didn’t.
Production was delayed almost two hours as Channel 7 scrambled to bring in Dancing with the Stars judge Todd McKenney as a last-minute replacement yesterday.
It is believed that network bosses went into crisis management, deciding whether Sandilands had a future on the show after his repeated absences.
Seven’s head of production, Brad Lyons, said: “Kyle’s management advised us that he was too unwell to attend work yesterday. We are monitoring the situation closely.”
A Seven spokeswoman said Sandilands was in “the care of his GP” and expected that he would be back on deck for the Perth leg of auditions next week.
But an insider says Sandilands is extremely unhealthy and depressed over ex-wife Tamara Jaber’s new relationship with semi-professional sports star Ken Aseme.
Jaber went public with her new love affair in a magazine last week.

Australia’s Got Talent – Kyle Sandilands A No Show – Is He Imploding?
It is one thing to phone in sick for his radio show, but it is another thing not to show up at the Australia’s Got Talent auditions, which is exactly what Kyle Sandilands did this weekend.
The Herald Sun are reporting that Kyle did not turn up to the auditions this weekend for the hit reality show Australia’s Got Talent.
They report:
WITHOUT even being there Kyle Sandilands caused tensions to boil on the set of Australia’s Got Talent yesterday when he failed to show up for the second day of the show’s auditions in Melbourne.
Fans at the recording told the Sunday Herald Sun that Brian McFadden and Dannii Minogue were left red-faced when the controversial judge didn’t show up.
It is not reported if the producers of the show knew he was not going to turn up, nor if they replaced him on the panel for those auditions.
Is the stress of last year now starting to catch up with Kyle and is he starting to unravel?

The Kyle Sandilands Saga Continues – He Is Now To Be Probed
Don’t get too excited if you are not a fan of Kyle Sandilands, a judge on Australia’s Got Talent – he is not about to go under some form of torture that is condemned by the United Nations.
News.com.au is reporting that the Australian Communications and Media Authority will be examining the comments he made last year about a News Limited journalist.
However ACMA has no authority to have Kyle Sandilands pulled off air.
For those who want to more about Kyle Sandilands, Caroline Overington wrote an article on him in yesterdays Australian Magazine.

Have Kyle Sandilands and Matt Newton Been Swapping PR Advice?
As everyone in the Australia must now know that Kyle Sandiland’s made an unwarranted and personal attack on a News Limited journalist last week which has resulted in inches of publicity and resulted in sponsors pulling ads from the network.
Props should go to News Limited for supporting their employee in this situation. It is a pity those same sponsors did not remove advertising when Kyle inappropriately asked a 14 year old girl who she had had sex with after she had revealed she had been sexually abused.
However unfortunately for that girl she did not have a huge media organisation behind her. Though Channel Ten did sack him from Australian Idol, and Idol sunk that year.
Kyle tried to defend himself last week by saying he was an equal opportunity arsehole, and is was just as harsh on males as well as females.
Now it appears Matt Newton is using the ‘I am a prick to everyone’ defence. He apparently hits guys as well as girls.
Well that is what Matt Newton’s lawyer Chris Murphy is saying.
The Daily Telegraph writes:
MATTHEW Newton’s closest confidant says people should lay off the troubled actor because he didn’t just hit women – he hit men too.
Biting back at Newton’s “orgy” of haters on Twitter, the actor’s lawyer Chris Murphy says Bert and Patti’s son didn’t discriminate when it came to violent outbursts because he is mentally ill.
He praises Newton for having the courage to talk of his struggles on A Current Affair last week, saying Newton had admitted to “violent incidents with both genders”.
Newton has been living with Murphy since he left a Sydney clinic recently.
Murphy has been Newton’s lawyer for many years, representing him in 2006 when he was charged over the assault of then-girlfriend Brooke Satchwell.
It was Murphy who first made public Newton’s mental health issues, when he used them as a defence to the Satchwell assault charges.
Murphy claims that stories about Newton had been twisted to focus solely on his violence towards women, such as well-documented incidents with ex-girlfriends Rachael Taylor and Satchwell, when he also had been physically aggressive towards his male best friend and other men.
Murphy tweets that Newton hit men – “friends and strangers. It’s called mental illness.”
There has also been debate around the Matt Newton issue, saying that he refused to take responsibility for his violent behaviour and that he blamed it on his mental illness. The ACA interview was the first step in trying to rehabilitate him to the public, something that will be extremely difficult.
What I found interesting in the Matt Newton interview was that he said he was glad to be get help as he “…had enough of the noise”. Was this some noise that he was continually hearing in his head? Not sure if this was a symptom of his post traumatic stress disorder, the bipolar or OCD.
Prediction: Kyle will survive out of this furore, as he will go on ice for a couple of months then be wheeled out for the next ratings period. Also Channel Seven have been silent on the issue and at this stage he is still a judge on Australia’s Got Talent for 2012. Let’s face it everyone knows Kyle is a prick, he would do more damage to his brand if he suddenly became the Mother Theresa of breakfast radio.

Brian McFadden Incident Did He Take The Fall For Kyle?
As we all know the headlines in the news yesterday were about Brian McFadden being met by the Australian Federal Police at the Sydney Airport when he arrived from a flight from LA.
The Daily Telegraph reports both Brian McFadden and Kyle Sandilands were met when they got of the flight, as there were allegations of smoking in the toilets.
The article said:
IT WAS the middle of the night, high above the Pacific, when some sleeping passengers were woken by laughs and loud conversation on the red-eye flight from LA to Sydney early yesterday.
The noise appeared to be coming from the bar at the rear of the business class cabin, where singer Brian McFadden and best mate Kyle Sandilands were perched.
No one else was seated on the purple leather bar stools of the V Australia Boeing 777, where the pair was enjoying a chat and a “few” beverages.
The duo was toasting their return to start auditions for Australia’s Got Talent and Irish crooner McFadden’s tipple of choice was a vodka mixer. It was all good fun, until things turned serious.
Flight attendants apparently became aware of the smell of cigarette smoke wafting through the aircraft.
No alarms were set off but they were certain someone, against regulations, had been smoking in the lavatory.
An “aggressive” conversation then ensued between McFadden, Sandilands and the flight crew, with repeated denials from the former Boyzone singer that he was the culprit. Sandilands backed his buddy, exclaiming “there is no way” McFadden would smoke on a plane.
“They were arguing, a lot of us heard it,” Ryan, an economy passenger from Camperdown, said.
Standard protocol was followed by the cabin crew and Sydney Airport was radioed and told there had been an incident with two passengers.
“Smoking, aggressive behaviour and not following the orders of staff,” was the initial brief relayed to the Australian Federal Police, who were waiting at the gate when the plane touched down at 8.30am. McFadden and Sandilands were escorted off the aircraft and interviewed.
In the initial media reports on radio there was no mention of popular DJ and judge on Australia’s Got Talent. It has been reported before Kyle Sandiland does not drink alcohol, but he does smoke. But obviously the finger must have been pointed at Brian.
Anyway as usual they have both come across as a couple of arrogant gits.
Also listeners of his show will now realise he had not been live on breakfast radio that morning because he was on the plane. However I doubt that revelation will make a dint in his radio ratings. (Source: Daily Telegraph)

Matt The Fat Joins Kyle The Vile
Masterchef Australia Matt Preston continues his multi-faceted media career by joining Kyle Sandilands on his breakfast show.
The Daily Telegraph reports that Matt Preston has signed a contract with Austereo which will see him appear on Kyle’s breakfast show on a “semi-regular basis”.
The article states:
Preston will join the show as a sidekick to the top-rating duo of Sandilands and Jackie O at the end of February, pitching in with celebrity interviews and adding his insights on the world of food, restaurants and star chefs.
I think it is a great gig for Matt Preston, but I am a bit perplexed by it. Are Today FM looking to expand their demographic or do they think Matt Preston will be a good fit with their current audience .
The contract is rumoured to be six figures. Congratulations to the popular Masterchef judge who has said he would like to get into commercial radio.

This Photo Won’t Stop The Lara Bingle/Kyle Sandiland’s Rumour
I still think Kyle would, but Lara will just keep him dangling whilst he is buying the drinks, but rumours of them being on is not going to be stopped by this photo, Lara just tweeted.
Or maybe he is just giving her advice on her rumoured Dancing With Stars role, his ex did make the final.

Kyle Sandilands Is Pissing Off Everyone
The X Factor judge appears to be pissing off everyone lately including his bosses at Austereo.
This morning he did not turn up to work because he was sick, and Jackie O came in and decided to go home as well!
News.com.au writes:
THEY wanted to celebrate his ratings success but Austereo bosses were instead left with an empty radio booth when Kyle Sandilands called in sick for the sixth time in two weeks yesterday.
Executives were again left wondering about the wisdom of allowing Sandilands’ commitment to The X Factor after his pregnant co-host Jackie O arrived – and then decided to go home too.
Listeners were instead ‘treated’ to a best-of package, just as they were when Sandilands called in sick two weeks ago – before taking that whole week off.
Despite his latest sickie, he managed to raise himself from his sick-bed to appear live as a judge on The X Factor last night, no doubt irking his radio bosses further.
“It does seem strange he couldn’t make it to work for 2DayFM but could for the other show,” one source said last night.
Also this week Kyle also took a swipe at Junior Masterchef fans basically calling them losers.
Kyle last night had the casting vote which saw Hayley Teale be sent from The X Factor. Funnily enough I saw a tweet which said that he had asked Mahogany and Sally Chatfield who to vote for and they both said Hayley. I am not sure if that is true.
I presume his Austereo bosses won’t do much about his behaviour as it is the second highest breakfast morning show. But I pity the producers on his show having to cope with these things on the fly.
