Ladette to Lady – The Dinner Party
This week’s challenge for the ladettes was to host a dinner party for people from society. I wonder if Skye’s new beau was one of the guests at tonight’s shindig.
TV Week reports that Skye has captured the heart of one of the gentleman who was on the show. Apparently she is madly in love with Leuan Walker who she met on one of the challenges. “I’ve been screaming every second I mention his name,” Skye reveals.
They met at the cocktail party on week one but did not take any notice of him until one of the other soirees.
“Me and Leuan were out the front drinking a bottle of whiskey. I just started talking to him and thought,’Alright!’ she laughs. “I thought he was a gentleman, well-mannered and a sweetie. It just went from there and we’re dating. He’s so cute!”
She is planning on moving to the UK on a work visa.
Skye had other challenges this week other than hooking a guy, she was made the school prefect for the whole week. Which meant if something went wrong she would be responsible for it. The other girls were persecuting Sky as she has previously not treated the other girls with respect.
For the first time in the series we got to see Krislyn a girl who has the usual problems with the booze and biff. She does look much better with her flapper style bob rather then the cheap blonde dye job she had before the show. She was one of the girls giving Skye a hard time, but other than that she did nothing memorable.
Just as I was getting a bit bored with the episode they introduced the wine tasting, and told not to get drunk. I think the producers would have been very disappointed if they had stayed sober. They all got stonkered. Zoe seemed to be particularly bad. But to be fair they were left with Bollinger I would have been drinking heavily as well.
The cook Mrs Shrager counselled Zoe about her alcohol problem and told her not to drink. Why don’t they take her to the village AA meeting.
Also there was a witchhunt for the missing alcohol which of course was found by the school princiapl Mrs Harboard. Some of these ‘plotlines’ in the show are very obvious.
The dinner party was uneventful the food looked fantastic. The souffle looked sensational even though it was a bit late.
Zoe was a surprise elimination (to her at least). She was told to go and deal with her alcohol issues. Hopefully she will conquer those demons.
Next week they said a Prince would be at the masked ball. has Prince Lorenzo flown over to be a special guest?
I am not sure the Ladettes are worse than the english lot, I remember them getting up to a whole lot of naughtiness. However Channel 9 must be thinking it is a sucessful show as they are currently casting for new series.

Ladette To Lady – The Tea Party
I am glad the girls did not have to pay for their haircuts, as they were styles you would see on fifty year old women. This show is trying to snuff the life out the Ladettes. Bianca who ended up being eliminated was told to quiten down.
However if you quiten down to much you get criticised like Kristyn did for being too placid.
Tonight’s episode really did not show much bad behaviour at all unless you call butchering all those cakes comes under that definition.
It was a night of revelations.
Nicole, who I really like, revealed she had had a tough upbring. I really felt sorry for her. But I also like her spirit and personality.
Sarah was upset whilst doing the flower arranging as it reminded her of death and she revealed her sister had died 18 months ago.
Bianca was the one who was eliminated, and she went home gracefully.
The show has had a ratings drop so it will be interesting to see if Channel 9 will continue with the second series.

Reality Tidbits
Tim Brunero Writes How He Assisted Sarah Brunton On Ladette To Lady
On Live News Tim Brunero writes about how he gave Ladette to Lady contestant Sarah Brunton tips on participating on a reality TV show. He also reckons that a “feminist wet dream” is when a women act like a bloke. I think he needs to be flamed for those comments.
Elimination Interviews With SYTYCDA Dancers Jesse and Max.
Here is Jesse’s elimination interview in TV Week basically blames it on the choreographer. It was a pretty poor routine not helped by Max’s very poor dancing to it. And here is Max’s. She does talk a little bit about the fact that Jason’s dislike have her may have been a factor which got her eliminated.
Sonia Kruger’s Divorce Story All Over The Weekly Woman’s mags.
The only in town for the women weekly mags this week is the bust up of Sonia Kruger’s marriage. She has made the cover of both New Idea and Woman’s Day. Both have exactly the same story in them. All about too much work causing them to go their seperate ways.
A tiny bit of the Woman’s Day story is here.

Ladette To Lady – Episode 2 – The Hunt
”I feel you are trying to turn us into decorated fuck dolls for the pleasure of men.” sparkie Sarah Brunton said to Eggleston Hall cook Mrs Scragher.
This was just about confirmed when two older “gentlemen” were talking to girls about the hunt and said when Sarah was cracking the whip “take her to the bedroom right now.”
Nicole the petite stripper who knows a thing or two about sleazy men quite rightly got angry and upset and said they were not gentlemen. She also could have pointed out they were old enough to be the girls father.
The etiquette seemed quite non-plussed and told the angry Nicole “Men are all the same”. So is it up to the women to modify their behaviour, but the men can behave how they wish? Like Danny Nulliah blaming the Victorian bushfires on women having abortions it appears that it is always the women’s fault.
Even at the same hunt party the older sleazy men were trying to get the ladettes drunk, and when Nicole started stripping all the men got leary looks on their faces. You would have thought none of them had seen breasts before. Not that she stripped that far down.
Having said that I got slightly bored this episode as they were all pretty well behaved and I kept on hoping for some outrageous drunken behaviour to lighten up. If I want to see a pheasant plucked I’ll watch Hugh Fernley-Whittingstall at the River Cottage on the Lifestyle Channel.
Emily was eliminated the reason given because she was boring and stupid. Her problem was she was showing no ladette behaviour something confirmed in this interview with her in TV Week
Also here is an elimination interview with TV Week whose stay at Eggleston Hall did not change her as her aim now is to pose for FHM or Zoo mag.

Ladette to Lady – Episode 1 –
What in the hell is sexual incontinence? Mrs Brewer the etiquette teacher in an interview with Sky asked about her sexual incontinence.
I thought what is that? Did I miss something when the girl was urinating behind the bus? But apparently the sexual incontinence occurred when Sky pashed Zoe at the cocktail party. It means lacking in restraint.
I think I will try and drop it into a sentence this week.
Now who was the girl peeing behind the bus with the full stream seen on camera? She will never live that down.
Ladette to Lady Australia premiered tonight on Channel 9. It is an exact replica of the english version, where the teachers at Eggleston Hall try to turn ladettes into ladies. Each episode a girl is eliminated until only three are left and they participate in a debutante type ball and one of them is named a winner. I think the only prize is the title.
With the English version of the show I had a love hate relationship due to a couple of factors.
Firstly do the people at Eggleston Hall really think they can adequately treat girls with severe alcohol problems? Some of these girls are alcoholics. Which is probably why they are picked as the producers know as soon as the booze comes out they will get some great footage eg Sky pashing Zoe.
The other reason I have an issues with the show is the assumption that knowing how to arrange flowers, mixing the right cocktail and cooking and serving food to men is what a lady should aspire to.
Having voiced my objections I know I will still be tuning in each week, if this episode is anything to go by, and really it is just a reality TV show with all the normal manipulations that occur within this genre.
Tonight’s episode was really Sky’s show as she showed just how bad she could be. Now if this had been a genuine “worst girl goes home, Sky would have been the one to leave.
But you knew she was not going to be gone due to the amount of footage they are getting out of her. Zoe one of the girls with a drinking issue was also kept in because of entertainment value.
After all the screen time Zoe and Sky received we barely got to see the other ladettes. Sarah Brunton the electrician wanted to go on the show to learn more feminine ways. She is the eldest of the ladettes and I wonder how she handled being stuck with out of control early 20′s girls. The Sun Herald reported that Sarah had been coached in the ways of reality TV by former Big brother reality star Tom Brunero. So I don’t expect to see excessive drinking, chundering, stripping or making to much of a dick of herself. She will leave that up to the other girls.
Maria the girl who was eliminated tonight barely received any TV time. In fact I find it a bit ironic but the best behaved ladette was sent home. Hopefully in tomorrow night’s episode we will get to see more of the girls we did not see tonight.
Channel 9 are on a winner and they know it. That is why they are advertising for contestants for series 2.

Ladette to Lady Is It Going To Be So Bad It Will Be Good?
Now I wouldn’t normally think a bunch of unruly girls belching, farting and spewing on national TV would be good entertainment, but that was before I had seen the British series of Ladette To Lady.
And now there will be an Australian version, where apparently our girls are even more badly behaved than the Brits.
The Australian version of the show is about to start on Channel 9 on Monday 16 February at 9.30pm (late timeslot due to profanities I presume), and will be followed again by another episode on the 17 February at 9.30pm.
Over six weeks eight Australian ladettes will be drilled in the traditional disciplines of the British ruling classes by the UK series principal, Gill Harbord, and Rosemary Shrager, the vice-principal and chef. They will be given various tasks in deportment, elocution, flower arranging, etiquette, cookery and other ladylike pursuits.
But I presume they will also be allowed out with enormous amounts of alcohol so the ladette behaviour can emerge.
Early reviews of the show are split the herald sun call it a TV disgrace whereas Your TV says it is a must see TV show.
On the 16th of February we will be able to make our own decision about the show.

Aussie Ladette To Lady – Now What Are These Girls Like?
In today’s Daily Telegraph the Australian Ladette to Ladies have been deemed the worst bunch of contestants in the world. Woo hoo girls.
Rosemary Shrager who is the disciplinarian and cookery teacher in the UK series says the Australian contestant’s attitudes were worse than the British ladettes and on par with the US cast.
“I was seriously shocked,” Shrager says. “They were just awful and they came in with the most horrible attitude I have ever seen.”
TV Week bless them have done a preview on Aussie Ladette To Lady which will be premiering on Channel 9 in February. The premise of the show is eight australian Ladettes are flown to England to go to Eggleston Hall where the Head Mistress Gill Harboard trys to turn them into ladies. There is an elimination each week and there is a winner who I suppose is crowned top lady.
Anyway lets hear from the ladettes:
Zoe Irons 20 – “Everybody said I should do this show because I’m so loud and crazy. Iwas like, ‘Well you’ve got be in it to win it.’ So I got a bit drunk, did a video and here I am.”
Sarah Brunton, 29 – “Imight get in touch with me feminine side. I don’t really know how to do all that – the make-up, the hair, wearing a skirt. I’d like to know how to do it without looking and feeling stupid.”
Nicole Mitchell, 20 – “I have a problem when I go out: I’ll start taking my clothes off in clubs and random places. I’m an exotic dancer, so I do it for work….. you’d think that’d be enough.”
Emily Biggs, 19 – “I’m hoping Ladette To Lady helps to make my voice a bit more ladylike and stops me from going out to much. Compared to most of the girls, I’m not a big boozer, but on the weekends I’m bad.”
Maria De Corraddo, 23 – “My dad doesn’t think I can stick it out. He thinks,’She’ll crack at one point and people won’t be able to control her.’ But he needs to take a look at the other Ladettes!”
Skye Harper 21, – “I look like a chick and act like a guy. Boyfriends are a wheel clamp – they hold you back and they hold you down. I want to do what I want to do.”
Kristyn Gohrt 21 – “I’m an absolute alcoholic – I drink every day, and a lot- plus, I swear and fart. I like who I am and I enjoy it. I have fun.”
Bianca Stevens,23 – “I fit all the requirements. Can you drink the boys under the table? Would you rather go to the footy than go shopping? Do you swear all the time? Yep, that’s definitely me! It’ll be a mad challenge.”
Sarah Brunton’s , and Kristyn Gohrt’s have facebook supporter pages.
For more information on the contestants go to the official Channel 9 Ladette To Lady website. Hopefully Channel 9 will tell us soon what date it is going to air.

Is Ladette To Lady Celebrating Women’s Violence Against Women?
In an article in the Sydney Morning Herald about the increase in female aggression, it claims shows like Ladette To Lady actually celebrate female violence.
The article states:
And Channel Nine making its own version of Ladette To Lady signifies violence by women against women not only deserves less condemnation than violence by men, but is almost something to be celebrated. The program pretends to try to turn them good, but it’s really just showcasing such behaviour.
In the Australian version, those cast tout themselves as promiscuous hard drinkers, some with a dash of violence.
Verity, 23, says: “I got kicked out of my own engagement party because I was violent and extremely intoxicated, vomiting and collapsing in front of all my extended family and also my fiance’s. They still, to this day, judge me on that.”
Another contestant, Melissa, says she hopes to find her identity, which raises the question: what on earth are these young women aspiring to be?
Do you agree, or do you think Ladette To Ladies is trying to show just how appalling the behaviour is?

This season Farmer Wants A Wife Season 3. No news yet on when it will commence. This year for the first time there will be a female farmer.
I am still trying to find a You Tube for the upcoming Ladette to Lady Australian Series.
