Kat Risteska and BJ Rorke were eliminated this week on So You Think You Can Dance Australia. They were just one show out of making the top four.
This is what they had to say to Who Magazine. Kat is coy about whether she is seeing Home and Away’s Lincoln Lewis.
Here is Kat’s interview with TV Week
BJ’s with TV Week is TV Week

Avoiding the bottom three depends on who your partner is and which choreographer you get. Talia will have to overcome those obstacles to be safe tomorrow night. More on that later in the post.
It was a fairly solid show, there were no disasters but nor were there many routines that were sensationally memorable.
Chanelle and Loredo – Hip Hop -Bottle Pop - Pussycat Dolls
Now that Lara Bingle is leaving the Shire to move to Bondi is Chanelle trying to become the Queen bee of the the Shire? She is certainly advertising her love for the enclave by wearing a I Heart the Shire t-shirt. They are a parochial bunch there and I am sure that t-shirt is a best seller.
I think this pair will be struggling to avoid the bottom three with this Andrew Sears I dream of Jeannie routine. Yes they both looked good but I they did not suit this genre.
Penny and Charlie – Contemporary – You Found Me – The Fray
Charlie got extremely lucky in this Kelly Aykers routine as he did not have to lift Penny. I thought they danced it quite well, but I felt no emotion between the pair. Everyone elase seems to be embracing the Penny, but not me. I don’t find her a very graceful dancer. The judges loved the routine.
Why does Bonnie feel she needs to tell us again what the routine is about? She did it quite a few times tonight, she must think the audience are morons.
Gianne and BJ – Ballroom(Salsa) – Drop It On Me – Ricky Martin
BJ deserves extra points for lifting Gianne she is not small. Yes the lift at the end was laboured but at least they managed to do this difficult manourve. I would love to see her dance disco. She rocked it tonight and BJ just seemed like a minor player in the whole routine. They should be safe. Jason was talking to BJ how he could see it in his eyes how much he wanted it, but which one of those top 16 dancers doesn’t want it?
Danny and Kat – Contemporary – Seven Nation Army – White Stripes
Last year’s contestant Marko Panzic choreographed a great contemporary routine. This was probably my favourite routine of the night. They played assassins which made a nice change from the usual unrequited love routines. The judges loved it , and the crowd loved it.
Talia and Emmanuel – Jazz – The joint is Jumping – Hot Shoe Shuffle.
The Adam William’s routine was about best friends forever, but I did not feel much a connection between the two dancers. Jason kindly pointed out to the viewers how hard it is for Talia having to dance with Emmanuel. I feel a bit sorry for her and hopefully we will get to see her dance sometime with another partner. Emmanuel has technique and counting issues. Add in a pretty standard Adam Williams jazz routine and it is difficult for them to avoid the bottom three.
Amy and Damien – Ballroom (Rhumba) – Stepping Stone – Duffy
Damien is no Henry Byalikov, this ballrooom dancer was lucky he was dancing a Jason Gilkison routine as this might be the only thing between him and the bottom three, and then elimination. You cannot not shine in your own genre and expect to be safe. Jason Coleman was not kind and said he thought Damien had been outdanced by Amy. This pair lacks charisma so have to really pop to be safe.
Pania and Ben – Hip Hop- Show me the Money – Petey Pablo
Pania and Ben were doing a Nacho Pop krumping routine. Krumping is a genre of hip-hop with started in the means streets of south LA and it has to be good to be interesting. I cannot stand it as a dance genre and the whole routine irritated me. I would be interested in hearing from any hip hop fans to know what they thought of it. I think Pania and Ben’s popularity will be the thing that will ensure they are safe.
Lamb and Timomatic – Jazz – My Life Would Suck Without you – Kelly Clarkson.
The Squared Division choreographed this jazz routine. I thoug ht Tim danced it quite well, and it was a fun routine however there were no memorable moves in it something which does not make the viewers pick up the phone. I think Lamb will be in difficulty if she makes it into the bottom three.
Bottom three predictions – Loredo and Chanelle, Talia and Emmanuel, and Timomatic and Lamb.

So you can do one of the best dance for your life routines in any series EVER and you get eliminated. WTF is that all about. Stephen’s bicycle routine was original and just brilliant, but the judges thought he should be the one to go. Outrageous. Yes the guys all did three great routines, but I thought Timomatic’s was nowhere near as good as Loredo’s and Stephens. Both of theirs were just breathtaking.
This is why getting the right partner at the start of the competition is so important. Stephen was always going to struggle to stay in the show partnered with Ash-Leigh, because her lack of warmth was not going to draw in as many votes as the other dancers.
Whilst on the other hand Emmanuel is managing to stay in due to Talia’s popularity. Anyway speaking of Ash-Leigh I actually it was unfair that she was eliminated tonight.
I am going to be a hypocrite in saying if she had not been voted out I would raised the probity issue of Jason Gilkison being on the panel, due to her dancing for his stage show. But her dance for your life was very good, whereas I thought Chanelle had to many rythmic gymnastic moves in hers, and after all of Lamb’s big talk about an aggressive routine I found it rather tame.
By the way I think Jason G should be on the panel every week as he has more charisma than Bonnie Lythgoe and Matt Lee added together.
Was Stephen kicked off just because he was partnered with Ash-Leigh? Was Timomatic kept in because they did not want to kick off a hip hop artist and they want to show his growth in the competition?

The auditions started off as they ended last year, with a sob story. Chanelle who had scoliosis made it to the top 100 last year, but has auditioned again this year and got put through.
Speaking of last year did Bonnie’s fluro green leather jacket make a reappearance or was it just very similar to a purple one she wore last year?
SYTYCDA have started with the Sydney auditions, so obviously they want to put some of the best dancers in their first episodes to hook the viewers in. It was the same drill as last year. You could either be put straight through to the top 100, or be sent through to choreography lead by Kelley Abbey. Oh and the third option was just a big NO.
Red a B boy who supposedly looked like Matt Lee, the main resemblance being they both wear fedora hats. He was sent to choreography, but bombed out. By the way when he was in choreography I thought he did look like Matt.
Jessica and Damien have been ballroom (latin american) dancing together for three weeks. In the audition you could tell it was a new partnership but they were not too bad. They were sent through to choreography. Both got through the top100.
Forever was an interesting dancer, with a sad clown like face, and a Mia Michaels like dance. At this point I couldn’t tell if it was a male or female. I don’t know if it was the operatic music, the makeup or the dramatic movement but I thought it was mesmerising. By the way Forever was a girl, and she was put through to the top 100.
Michael reminded me of Mark Nakamura from last years US SYTYCD. Mark being a ten times better dancer. He actually is an accountant and the first one I have seen in a long time with a personality. He did not get put through but he was entertaining.
Rosa a self taught hip hop dancer who said her family had never seen her dance. So they will have seen her dance tonight. She was put through to choreography. She popped there and got the ticket through to the top 100.
Stephen who had been overseas performing in Cats was an amazing charismatic dancer, I will be surprised if he does not make top 20. Jason like his performance as it had a “male energy”. He made it through to the top 100.
Don another top 100 dancer was back. He was a hip hop dancer, personally I thought he was a bit unspectacular. But clearly I am not a hip hop expert as he was given a ticket straight to Sydney. And Bonnie is showing her craziness already by declaring she wanted to see him in the top 20.
Max ( a girl) did some crazy type of dancing, the judges hated it but she was sent through to choreography. Next was her brother Sisqo who again did some lame arse hip hop, and an attempt at popping. Robert Muraine has nothing to worry about. Jason loved it. And he was given a ticket straight through to the top 100.
I think I may have to outsource my hip hop critques as I clearly have no idea about this genre.
Max got a tongue lashing from Jason Coleman after she said she preferred Kelley Abbey’s choreography to Matt Lee’s last year. “I find that really offensive” Jason growled. “It is like comparing Sydney to Melbourne.” To be honest I am not sure what he meant by that, as people are always comparing these two cities. But bye bye top 100 for her.
Considering how Brent St dominated in the top 20 last year, Christian was going to have to come out and faint to not get through as his parent’s are the owners of the leading dance school. Jason and the other judges were talking in superlatives. Expect to see him in the top 20. Jason even gave him a pep talk as he handed him the ticket to the top 100. “Just remember you are brilliant, but this competition is about growth, so don’t become complacent.
David Denis, the brother of last year’s top 20 contestant Hilton auditioned. He is not as good as his brother his feet were all over the place, even though his eyes were looking at them the whole time. He was put through to choreography, and eventually got his ticket to the top 100.
Kat reminded me of Rhiannon from last year, and was sent straight through to the top 100.
Jasmine & Shaun a brother and sister jive team did a fun routine. They had a sob story which was quite moving as it showed up the differing ambitions that asian children can have from their immigrant parents. “I just wish my parents understood me” wept Jasmine. Jasmine got through to the top 100 but her brother was left behind. Her father surprised her by turning up. Ok Channel Ten it worked as I teared up.
Stacy a hip hop chick got put through to choreography.
Pania was another girl hip hop dancer, she was not as good as Stacy but Jason wanted to put her through to the top 100. Matt was not happy that Bonnie agreed with Jason, as he just wanted to put her through choreography.
Get used to it Matt, Jason has the power vote on this year’s panel.
Charlie a boy from Dubbo who was engaging but a bit all over the place was sent through to choreography. He got through to the top 100.
Emmanuel a self taught hip hop artist got put through to the top 100 after Bonnie again sided with Jason over Matt. Do I sense some tension brewing? I hope so. The panel needs a bit more frission in it.
Sari was the last dancer for the day and she was a good dancer. Jason Coleman said no to her because he did not like her wearing a floppy t-shirt. So blokes can wear floppy t-shirts but girls cannot, how sexist is he? Anyway a few tears and confessions about how she did not like her body and she was through to the choreography round. Once she had a leotard on she got her ticket to the top 100.
That was it from Sydney they did not tell us how many tickets were handed out. Just a note to the producers if you are going to edit out of sequence just make Bonnie and the boys wear the same outfit for two days, I counted three outfits on supposed day 1, and again the same three appeared on day 2.
If you want to see more of tonight’s auditions go to the official site www.ten.com.au/dance.

Natalie Bassingthwaite Says She Has Taken Acting Lessons To Help With Hosting So You Think You Can Dance
Natalie Bassingthwaite reveals today in the Daily Telegraph that she is feeling much more confident going into season 2 of So You Think You Can Dance Australian (SYTYCD Au).
She has hired an acting coach to help her with the second series. She said the criticism of her performance on the first few show last year hurt.
“I was really aware of it (nerves) at the time and in the first few episodes I was so petrified you could see me shaking.
“So I got an acting coach last year and I think I’ve found it.”
This is great news as SYTYCD was great last year, if the last few hiccups can be removed then it will be fabulous this season.
Anyway good news for fans Channel Ten have released the new SYTYCD website, and it looks super slick. Click here. to get to it.
It looks likes Jason Coleman has had his paddlepop lion hair cut into something funkier. Only thing I don’t get is the poll on the site asking who is our favourite judge and Matt Lee has 50 % of the votes. Hopefully only about 10 people have voted.
