Australia’s Next Top Model To Return in 2013
Australia’s Next Top Model after a year’s hiatus will be back in 2013, but possibly at the expense of Project Runway Australia.
TV Tonight reports Foxtel has commissioned Cycle 8 of Australia’s Next Top Model -and they heard Megan Gale is the hot tip to host. Previous rumour of host have included Miranda Kerr and Nicole Trunfio.
TV Tonight also says an announcement about host and judges should occur in the next two weeks.

Auditions! Auditions!
Project Runaway Australia is ready to set off on a new search for our nation’s next big fashion designers in the upcoming fourth season, hosted by supermodel Megan Gale. Applications are now open online here.
The contestant call is also sent out for the new season of Beauty and the Geek Australia, the social experiment helping girls be more than just beautiful, and awkward men to woo them. I currently study at the University of Technology, Sydney, and last year, geeky guys and pretty girls were being signed up to the show on my campus. I had to stop and take another look when a Beauty and the Geek casting stall was set up at my uni. I wonder if that’ll happen again this year? Hopefully, I’ll remember to take pics this time! (the line wasn’t long when I passed it). Apply as a geek or beauty here!
Meanwhile, registrations for The X Factor Australia are still going. The dates and details for applying are here in realityraver’s post and here on the official website.
I can’t sew and I’m not awkward or extremely interested in pretty girls, so I can’t say I’m that keen on trying out for the first two shows! But if I can gather a few friends for The X Factor Australia audition, it’ll hopefully be fun! (And better than my Australian Idol experience a few years back).
Yet, nothing would get me more thrilled than the auditions announcement for the return of Big Brother Australia! Stay up to date with their official Nine website, twitter account @bbau9 and Facebook page for the first whispers!
A few weeks ago, I was mislead to excitement when they tweeted something along the lines of: “The wait will soon be over! Auditions coming soon!” – but then I haven’t heard anything since. And checking back on their page, that tweet has been deleted. Strange?!
Let me know which reality shows you would audition for, even if they’re not looking for contestants at the moment!

Project Runway Australia Season 3 Preview
Good news for Project Runway Australia fans, with news the third season will kick of on Monday July 4 on Arena TV at 8.30pm.
There is a whole new cast. The show will be hosted by Megan Gale, with Alex Perry as mentor.
I don’t know how Alex Perry is juggling his workload, as Australia’s Next Top Model is currently filming as well. He also has his fashion design commitments and last week I read he was designing an apartment complex in Brisbane.
Fashion designer Kirrily Johnston is a new judge, as well as industry expert Jarrad Clark.
Clark’s experience spans working with the major creative heads in fashion, Australia and worldwide, as the Global Event Production Director of IMG Fashion.
And we have the names of the contestants.
Five designers from New South Wales; Anthony Allars, Dylan Cooper, Johnny Schembri, Nerida Bourne and Rachael Perks, four designers from Victoria; Claire Hocking,Craig Braybrook, Gabrielle Stephens and Matcho Suba and three designers from Western Australia; Anna McEachran, Amanda McKenna and Timothy Godbold will battle it out for first prize.
Also expect to see Collette Dinnigan, Camilla Franks, Dannii Minogue and Carla Zampatti, as guest judges.
Cannot wait – this is one of the best Australian reality TV show produced. By the looks of the preview it looks like again the production values are high.
Also if you know any of the contestants email me or make a comment and tell us about them.

Megan Gale Bitchslaps Some Scrags And Now They Are Slapping Back
Normally I get a bit frustrated when journos take stories from tweets of Twitter, but in this case it was nearly story of the day, in reality TV land.
The new Project Runway host Megan Gale took matters into her own hands when she heard two females bitching about her at the next table in a cafe.
The Daily Telegraph reports Megan who is in the current Who Magazine most beautiful list listened to the two girls as they said negative things about her appearance.
Megan tweeted:
“Sitting in a café listening to 2 girls reading out loud article in paper re: Who Mag’s Most Beautiful Issue. They are commenting on me….”
“… They don’t know I can hear them. And they are being a little kind.. But mostly nasty.. What would you do in this situation?? M xx”
“Wow.. They are really dissecting my looks! This is quite remarkable to hear… I’m literally less than a metre away from them..”
Two minutes later Gale decided to take the upper hand and confront her detractors.
“Alright, I’m going to say something… I think I have to no? Stand by tweeps for what happens next!!…”
Five minutes later she tweeted again.
“God I wish I could have filmed that whole entire scene!! Ok so while they were in the midst if (sic) picking me to bits, I lifted my head… which was down, tweeting & obscured by baseball cap, smiled & sweetly said “hi.” One clutched her her heart, closed eyes &said Oh my God!”
“The other, most venomous of the two smile at me &had the audacity to say hi oh my god how are you?!…”
“Still smiling, I said ‘You should be careful what you say guys, you never know who might be listening”…
“The back pedalling was quite interesting but their extremely chatty table became dead silent in a matter of seconds. They just left… Mxx”
Smackdown. Let us hope she brings that same attitude when judging the contestants on Project Runway Australia.
UPDATE:
The two girls Megan Gale was tweeting about have now hit back saying her tweeting about the incident for publicity purposes. (see Daily Tele article). It raises an interesting point – would Megan Gale think her tweets were mainstream newsworthy? And if she did does this mean it is ok to court publicity when you want it, but when it infringes your privacy it is not OK. Previously Megan Gale has found the publicity on her private life intrusive.
What do you guys think? I am conflicted on this one.

Project Runway Australia – Filming Has Started, Victorian Designers Revealed

Filming has started on the third season of Project Runway Australia in Melbourne. The Herald Sun reports they were filming at historic Ripponlea Homestead.
Megan Gale will be hosting the series for the first time taking over from Kristy Hinze. Also Henry Roth has been flicked for Alex Perry as mentor. I am still not sure what I think about that as I was a big fan of Henry’s. Alex Perry has a quick wit but not a lot of warmth, that both Tim Gunn and Henry Roth have.
There has been no other news on who the judges will be this season with rumours there will be a lot of changes.
The article also revealed the four Victorian contestants. They are Claire Hocking, Craig Braybrook, Matcho Suba and Gabrielle Stephens.
A quick Google revealed the following about the four:
- Craig Braybrook – appears to be a wedding gown designer (see Australian Brides);
- Claire Hocking – I cannot find anything except for a kinesiologist so maybe she is wanting a career change;
- Matcho Suba – Looks extremely interesting if this blog is anything to go by, he must be here on a visa, he is from Serbia and studied in London; and
- came up with nothing on Gabrielle Stephens.
So if anyone has any further information on these contestants contact me.
