Everybody Dance Now – Format Changed And Murdoch Admits It Was A Flop

Everybody Dance Now tanked in the ratings last week, but Network TEN have been quick to act to try and resuscitate it.

They have now cut it to one night a week, Sunday’s at 8.00pm, and it will only be a one hour show. The truncation means there will only be three heats and the winners of these heats will dance off for $10,000 and the other two will be eligible for the wild card vote into the quarter finals.

Inquiries late last week revealed the down side of this was some of the acts that were slated for the program have now been cut.

Also in the Sunday Telegraph today the host of the show Sarah Murdoch admitted the show was a horror flop and is wanting the viewer to give it another chance.

The article states:

Conceding the show’s original format had been a failure, a candid Murdoch said she had spent the past week in crisis talks with judges Jason Derulo and Kelly Rowland and the program’s creators, Fremantle Media, in a bid to salvage the series.

“It was a huge disappointment. The way the format was set didn’t work,” she told The Sunday Telegraph.

“We spent the entire week meeting and talking through every aspect of the show. We have taken on what the viewers have said and we can make it so Australia will fall in love with it.”

Imploring viewers to give the show another chance, Murdoch said the heavily promoted series had been completely revamped for tonight, with the number of acts performing cut to three and the program reduced from two weekly episodes to a solitary hour-long run on Sundays.

Network sources said the show was facing the axe and would likely be scrapped if the changes failed to impress.

The US judges were confident it could be saved, with 22-year-old singer Derulo saying the new format would give audiences a more action-packed experience. “We needed to move things around to give people the action-packed show they want,” he said. “Now we are giving them that. We have chopped down the excess.”

Singer Rowland, 31, said she would be most disappointed for the performers if the show was dropped.

“That’s why we went back to look at what we could do to make it better. I think the show is going to get better and better. We want viewers to love it.”

Well hopefully Jason will look a bit more excited about being there.

Everybody Dance Now will screen on Network TEN at 8.00pm Sunday nights.

Sarah Murdoch To Host So You Think You Can Dance?

It is about time So You Think You Can Dance Australia returned to our screens so hopefully the rumours in the Daily Telegraph about Sarah Murdoch hosting a new series on TEN this year are true.

At the moment there are no dance reality TV shows on our screens. Fox 8 have announced Got To Dance more times than Carl Scully announced the Parramatta to Chatswood rail link, and we know what happened to that!

Basically I will not believe Got To Dance has got the green light until it is on my screen.

So You Think You Can Dance Australia should be a ratings winner for TEN as it has been a few years since it was last seen on our screens and a new batch of talent will be ready to audition.

Sarah Murdoch who has a knowledge of dance will make a great host, and really she has the runs on the board to be able to easily handle the live shows.

Also I would only keep Matt Lee as judge from the first incarnation, he really hit his straps in the final series giving good critical advice that the viewers who are non-dancers could understand. Also he has the recent experience as a professional dance and performer in his recent role in Mary Poppins.

Also after Jason Coleman’s turn on Celebrity Apprentice Australia, he kind of damaged his brand and came across as a egomaniac. Also I found him to be saying the same thing series after series. And well I have nothing to say about Bonnie Lythgoe that was just wrong.

So fingers crossed we see So You Think You Can Dance Australia back on TEN in 2012.

Sarah Murdoch No Longer To Host Australia’s Next Top Model

Sarah Murdoch has stood down from hosting Australia’s Next Top Model. This is not going to stop rumours circulating that she is joining the new Channel Ten’s new breakfast show.

There was no announcement on who is going to replace her. Some possibilities to host would be promoting Charlotte Dawson from judge to host, Megan Gale, Elle Macpherson.

I know they like to have a model in the role, but if Nicole Ritchie is out here with her husband Joel Madden for The Voice what about trying to tee her up?

Who would you like to see in the hosting role of Australia’s Next Top Model?

Australia’s Next Top Model To Be Produced By Shine Australia

After Granada was dumped by Foxtel to produce  Australia’s Next Top Model because of what is now known as the finale fuck up, Shine Australia has now been given the gig.

This will keep the show in the family as Sarah Murdoch is Executive Producer of the show and Shine is owned by her sister-in-law.

Having said that I am not going to call nepotism on this one, as Shine Australia has shown to be producing some quality TV shows since they started in Australia.

Auditions for the new season are expected to start next month, there has been no news on if there will be any cast changes. (Source: Sunday Telegraph)

Australia’s Next Top Model – Was The Public Vote Worthless?

10oe1zk.jpg

A reader, Fontana,  had taken this snap shot of the Harpers Bazaar website and sent it to me, and it shows that Amanda Ware’s front cover was put up on the site yesterday at 4.51pm.

Now wasn’t voting continuing well into the live show last night which started at 7.30pm? If this is true the voting was not as close as they were saying.

Also Fontana said

Didn’t anyone notice during the original announcement of the winner (see early part of video footage) that on the large screen behind the stage, there was a large Harpers Bazaar magazine front cover featuring AMANDA.

If you missed the finale and want to see what happened go to this previous blog post here.

UPDATE: Considering I am the only one running this – I suspect the picture is bollocks.

UPDATE: As @theblock_fans pointed out to me this picture was found of the Vogue Forums…. who used to sponsor the show.
