More Gossip From Behind The Scenes On SYTYCDA

As a follow on from my previous article on SYTYCDA Are There Romances A Going On.

The TV Week have produced even more “quality” gossip” about the affairs of the heart that the dancers are currently embroiled in. I note TV Week will only write about hetero relationships…

Here is the goss:

Kat’s Love Triangle:

It is rumoured after breaking up with BJ, she is now seeing Home and Away star Lincoln Lewis. Kat’s room-mate Amy claims there is no romance going on with Lincoln. “They’ve been friends for ages,” Amy says of the pair, who met when Kat guest starred on the soap a year ago. “He’ll come over and we’ll all watch movies and stuff. He’s great – and a cute friend to have, for sure!”

Oh Amy what 21 year old boy hangs out with cute girls just to be friends??? Anyway I spoke to my spy on the Home and Away set who was disguised as a latte’. They said Lincoln has been talking about the dancers on SYTYCD and how gorgy the girls are. However Lincoln to quote my mole has his “poke in many fires.”

Ok back to the story….

Meanwhile, Kat and BJ – who dated for 18 months before calling it quits just weeks before auditions – insist the split was both mutual and amicable. “We broke up because we both really needed to focus on our careers and weren’t able to at the time,” BJ explains. “We were so young, but because we were friends before we started dating, we still have that friendship there, ” Kat says. And as for getting backd together in the future? “In a couple of years or so, you never know,” BJ admits, “But, right now, I’d have to say it won’t happen.”

Penny’s Finance Woes:

Wrapped up in the competition, Penny committed the ultimate partner sin – forgetting her fiance Marc’s birthday! “We’ve been together for five years. IT was his brithday two days ago and I’ve only just realised, ” Penny confesses.  “But that’s how hard we’ve been working  – we just forget what day it is.” While she admits slipping up, Penny claims she’s not to blame. “I was kind of mad at him, ” She laughs. ” I texted him, saying, ‘How come you didn’t say anything? IT’s your fault!’ He might have been upset, but we’ve been really busy!”

Ben’s Secret Girlfriend:

The popular finalist says he’s ‘deeply’ in love with his girlfriend of 18 months. “Her name is Zoe,” he smiles. “She’s been a great support to me throughout the competition and is my everything. I love her deeply and am so grateful to have someone like her in my life.” Ben met Zoe on the Gold Coast through work – and now that she’s returned to her home town of Sydney, he wants to live closer to her. “She’s been to every show and has pretty much made all the Ben signs in the audience,” he laughs.  “We’ve got tighter and tighter.”

Tim’s older Woman:
There were dating rumours surrounding Timomatic and Lamb, b ut the 21 year old only has eyes for one woman – his 24 year old girlfriend , Ivette. “We’ve been together on and off for four years, ever since I was 17,” he says. “We met at church – she was the drummer in the church band and I was singing. How cute is that? I took her to my Year 12 formal as our first date. It’s a bit sad looking back at it now, but that’s how it went down!”

Is The Girl Feud Still Raging:

After eliminated contestant Chanelle spilled that tension existed between the female finalists, all eyes have been on the SYTYCDA ladies to check for signs of any friction. But while the dancers admit there were some tough times, they all agree those days are long gone. “There was a bit of tension at the start, but everybody seems to be pretty good now,” BJ reveals of the atmosphere backstage. Talia agrees that relationships have improved. ” At the moment, all the girls are getting along really well,” she says. ” We’re all on such a professional level that we’re just worried about our own performances.”

Racism At Work:

Early on in the comp, Jamaican- born Loredo worried that he was failing to find fans in teh SYTYCCDA audience. “I didn’t start this competition on a high and I didn’t feel that I’d had the chance to connect to the Australian public,” he admits. “Maybe I just wasn’t shown enough to let the public relate to me and understand me. I have some fear, to be honest, that because I’m not Australian-born, maybe that will affect the way people vote.” Since teaming up with Talia and winning the “I’m loving it” moment two weeks in a row, however, Loredo has since noticed a big shift. “Since getting together, it’s been a mind-blowing thing,” he raves. “I’ve been so excited from start to finish.”

Tim Brunero Writes How He Assisted Sarah Brunton On Ladette To Lady

On Live News Tim Brunero writes about how he  gave Ladette to Lady contestant Sarah Brunton tips on participating on a reality TV show. He also reckons that a “feminist wet dream” is when a women act like a bloke. I think he needs to be flamed for those comments.

Elimination Interviews With SYTYCDA Dancers Jesse and Max.

Here is Jesse’s elimination interview in TV Week basically blames it on the choreographer. It was a pretty poor routine not helped by Max’s very poor dancing to it. And here is Max’s. She does talk a little bit about the fact that Jason’s dislike have her may have been a factor which got her eliminated.

Sonia Kruger’s Divorce Story All Over The Weekly Woman’s mags.

The only in town for the women weekly mags this week is the bust up of Sonia Kruger’s marriage. She has made the cover of both New Idea and Woman’s Day. Both have exactly the same story in them. All about too much work causing them to go their seperate ways.

A tiny bit of the Woman’s Day story is here.

Forever From SYTYCDA Audition 1 Sydney

If you missed Forever’s audition last night here it is. For the first 30 seconds I thought is it a joke, but then was captivated by the beautiful dancing.

So You Think You Can Dance Australia – Auditon 1 – Sydney

The auditions started off as they ended last year, with a sob story. Chanelle who had scoliosis  made it to the top 100 last year, but has auditioned again this year and got put through.

Speaking of last year did Bonnie’s fluro green leather jacket make a reappearance or was it just very similar to a purple one she wore last year?

SYTYCDA have started with the Sydney auditions, so obviously they want to put some of the best dancers in their first episodes to hook the viewers in. It was the same drill as last year. You could either be put straight through to the top 100, or be sent through to choreography lead by Kelley Abbey. Oh and the third option was just a big NO.

Red a B boy who supposedly looked like Matt Lee,  the main resemblance being they both wear fedora hats. He was sent to choreography, but bombed out. By the way when he was in choreography I thought he did look like Matt.

Jessica and Damien have been ballroom (latin american) dancing together for three weeks. In the audition you could tell it was a new partnership but they were not too bad. They were sent through to choreography. Both got through the top100.

Forever was an interesting  dancer, with a sad clown like face, and a Mia Michaels like dance. At this point I couldn’t tell if it was a male or female. I don’t know if it was the operatic music, the makeup or the dramatic movement but I thought it was mesmerising. By the way Forever was a girl, and she was put through to the top 100.

Michael reminded me of Mark Nakamura from last years US SYTYCD. Mark being a ten times better dancer. He actually is an accountant and the first one I have seen in a long time with a personality. He did not get put through but he was entertaining.

Rosa a self taught hip hop dancer who said her family had never seen her dance. So they will have seen her dance tonight. She was put through to choreography. She popped there and got the ticket through to the top 100.

Stephen who had been overseas performing in Cats was an amazing charismatic dancer, I will be surprised if he does not make top 20. Jason like his performance as it had a “male energy”. He made it through to the top 100.

Don another top 100 dancer was back. He was a hip hop dancer, personally I thought he was a bit unspectacular. But clearly I am not a hip hop expert as he was given a ticket straight to Sydney. And Bonnie is showing her craziness already by declaring she wanted to see him in the top 20.

Max ( a girl) did some crazy type of dancing, the judges hated it but she was sent through to choreography. Next was her brother Sisqo who again did some lame arse hip hop, and an attempt at popping. Robert Muraine has nothing to worry about. Jason  loved it. And he was given a ticket straight through to the top 100.

I think I may have to outsource my hip hop critques as I clearly have no idea about this genre.

Max got a tongue lashing from Jason Coleman after she said she preferred Kelley Abbey’s choreography to Matt Lee’s last year. “I find that really offensive” Jason growled. “It is like comparing Sydney to Melbourne.” To be honest I am not sure what he meant by that, as people are always comparing these two cities. But bye bye top 100 for her.

Considering how Brent St dominated in the top 20 last year, Christian was going to have to come out and faint to not get through as his parent’s are the owners of the leading dance school. Jason and the other judges were talking in superlatives. Expect to see him in the top 20. Jason even gave him a pep talk as he handed him the ticket to the top 100. “Just remember you are brilliant, but this competition is about growth, so don’t become complacent.

David Denis, the brother of last year’s top 20 contestant Hilton auditioned. He is not as good as his brother his feet were all over the place, even though his eyes were looking at them the whole time. He was put through to choreography, and eventually got his ticket to the top 100.

Kat reminded me of Rhiannon from last year, and was sent straight through to the top 100.

Jasmine & Shaun a brother and sister jive team did a fun routine. They had a sob story  which was quite moving as it showed up the differing ambitions that asian children can have from their immigrant parents. “I just wish my parents understood me” wept Jasmine.  Jasmine got through to the top 100 but her brother was left behind. Her father surprised her by turning up. Ok Channel Ten it worked as I teared up.

Stacy a hip hop chick got put through to choreography.

Pania was another girl hip hop dancer, she was not as good as Stacy but Jason wanted to put her through to the top 100. Matt was not happy that Bonnie agreed with Jason, as he just wanted to put her through choreography.

Get used to it Matt, Jason has the power vote on this year’s panel.

Charlie a boy from Dubbo who was engaging but a bit all over the place was sent through to choreography. He got through to the top 100.

Emmanuel a self taught hip hop artist got put through to the top 100 after Bonnie again sided with Jason over Matt. Do I sense some tension brewing? I hope so. The panel needs a bit more frission in it.

Sari was the last dancer for the day and she was a good dancer. Jason Coleman said no to her because he did not like her wearing a floppy t-shirt. So blokes can wear floppy t-shirts but girls cannot, how sexist is he? Anyway a few tears and confessions about how she did not like her body and she was through to the choreography round. Once she had a leotard on she got her ticket to the top 100.

That was it from Sydney they did not tell us how many tickets were handed out. Just a note to the producers if you are going to edit out of sequence just make Bonnie and the boys wear the same outfit for two days, I counted three outfits on supposed day 1, and again the same three appeared on day 2.

If you want to see more of tonight’s auditions go to the official site www.ten.com.au/dance.

So You Think You Can Dance Australia – Nigel Lythgoe Drops In.

Above is a preview for SYTYCDA from You Tube, in it you will see  Nigel Lythgoe who is a special guest judge. While he was here he gave his thoughts on SYTYCDA to TV Week (unfortunately no soft copy).  I was pretty excited to read that Mary Murphy is coming back and one of my favourite US SYTYCD choreographers Mia Michaels may visit.

TV WEEK:How did you find the Aussie dancers?

Nigel Lythgoe: To be honest, I was a little shocked on the first day because Kelley Abbey, who is a great choreographer, was doing a routine that all the dancers found really difficult. I was disappointed, to be frank. But the next day, they were terrific! they must have gone home thinking, “We were terrible” then gotten their nerves together.

TW: Do you think your presence would have been an added stress?

NL: Well, they said so, but I’m always shocked at that. People build up barriers and they’re really hard on themselves as dancers in Australia. I had to say at one point, “Stop beating yourselves up – this is not the end of the world!”

TW: Did you watch last season’s SYTYCDA?

NL: Do you think, what with being married to [judge] Bonnie, that I would have been allowed to miss it?! That goes without saying. I also met your winner, Jack. We put him in touch with Mia Michaels, who chroeographed him in LA, and they loved each other, I have to say. He’s a very, very talented boy.

TW: Will we see any of the US judges or choreographer make an appearance in season two of our show?

NL: I know they want to bring [husband and wife choreographer] Napoleon and Tabitha D’Umo down here. [Judge] Mary Murphy is coming back, and I know that Mia would love to choreograph something here too.

TW: Will you return the favour with any of our Aussie Choreographers?

NL: I very much like Kelley Abbey, but I’ll just keep my eye on the season. I’m fully invested in the dancers now, so I”ll have to watch on YouTube, I guess. I might even wipe a little tear from my eye when certain people leave the show. Your girls are superb this year  – I think they have great character, as well as being fantastic dancers. and the boys have the opportunity of growing. It’s going to be a very interesting year.

I am so confused about the whether Nigel and Bonnie Lythgoe are still together, they are sending out mixed messages.  In this article in the Herald Sun it states that Nigel is begging Bonnie to get back with him. In another article I read ( I cannot find it at the moment) Nigel said Bonnie had asked for a divorce. And in a previous post I wrote he was seen with Sophie Monk, but Bonnie was saying SYTYCDA had saved their marriage.

Anyway what ever they are doing I hope Nigel is coaching her to speak in soundbites.

Also looking at the above preview Matt Lee appears to keeping with his signature look of ill fitting headwear, however big thumbs up for Jason Coleman’s funky new hair style.

SYTYCD Au Season 1 Winner Jack Chambers Performing His Mia Michael’s Dance

As part of Jack Chambers prize for winning Season 1 of So You Think You Can Dance Australia was to have US choreographer Mia Michaels choreograph a routine for him to perform at a dance showcase.

Here is an exerpt of it. To be honest I was a bit underwhelmed by the choreography, and thought it did not show of his abilities enough. But you can tell it is a Mia Michaels piece. Pity as I am a big fan of hers.

Rhys Bobridge New Single – Hot Summer

Here is the video of Rhys Borbridge’s new single Hot Summer. It is pop and reminds me of Janet Jackson’s style in the ’90′s.

Same Same has an interview with Rhys where he says he is working on an album.
