Props to Ricki-Lee Coulter for doing a lazaurs like return to the lime light with news she has signed a huge record contract overseas.

The Daily Telegraphreports the former Australian Idol star has signed a worldwide singing contract with EMI.

RICKI-LEE Coulter was about to turn her back on her music career when an American hit-maker convinced her she had the goods to keep going.

Now the formerly independent artist has signed a worldwide deal with major label EMI and will relaunch her chart fortunes with a “world-class” pop song Raining Diamonds.

Coulter’s love affair with music began again after she emailed American producer and songwriter Billy Mann, who has penned hits for Pink, Ricky Martin, Kelly Rowland and dozens of pop stars.

Mann checked into Coulter’s background and invited her to New York to work with him and his producer protege BoyBlue.

Coulter said Raining Diamonds, one of the first songs they wrote together, is her ticket to take Australian pop to the world and demonstrate our artists can match it with the American superstars.

“I’m enjoying challenging myself,” she said. “I want to raise the bar and set a new standard for Australian pop artists. I respect Beyonce and Gaga because they push the limits and set the standard. No one in Australia really sings, dances, writes and is so entrenched in the whole music creation process. I want to up the ante and prove we can be that good as well.”

Single-minded about her return to music after stints in television and radio, Coulter said her pop career is now her priority.

“Raining Diamonds is all about knowing your value and not settling for less than what you believe you are worth,” she said.

Ricki-Lee Coulter has been one of the few Australian Idol alumni’s to have a long and diverse career after the show. However has the very spunky Ricki-Lee killed her career and potentially her endorsement deals by losing 25 kgs.

In fact the only deal she has left is with a shape wear brand.

I like Ricki-Lee so I hope she does continue her media career. Her new manager should consider trying to get her on Celebrity Apprentice which Channel Nine has confirmed they will be producing next year.

Ricki-Lee received some bad news last week, with her not having her contract renewed for her breakfast show on Nova. Which must have been a bit of a surprise considering she was nominated for best newcomer on radio in some recent radio awards.

I think she will find a home elsewhere, as she has a high likeability factor both with men and women.

TV Tonight quite rightly points out that Channel Nine are rocking it with Survivor Heroes V Villains, as it is now uptodate with the US, and Channel Seven are being slack and have not announced an premiere date for the latest series of the fabulous The Amazing Race.

Former Australian Idol co-host Ricki-Lee Coulter  has spoken out about the controversial Marie Claire cover of Jennifer Hawkins. You know the one where Jennifer was not photoshopped, but still looked flawless.

 News.com.au Ricki-Lee in an interview in Woman’s Day that many Australian women would struggle to relate with the Myer figurehead.

The article said:

While remaining complimentary of Hawkins, Coulter said that there was “a big divide” between the model and the average Australian woman.

“Jen looks beautiful on the cover and I applaud any woman who is appeared to appear in print without airbrushing.

But I love the photo of Bianca Dye that shows her sexy killer curves. I think a lot of women will look at her and think this is what a real woman looks like.”

Coulter also said that while being in the spotlight as a size 14 woman can be challenging, she loves her “hourglass figure”.

“I love my body because it’s what I’ve been given. Being too thin is just as unhealthy as being obese.”

And I would have to agree with her, and for the record Ricki-Lee’s photos for the Woman’s Day shoot were untouched.

There has been only one winner from Australian Idol this year, and it is Ricki-Lee. She will now join Merrick Watts, and former Triple J preseter Scott Dooley.

I am not sure how good she will be without a script, as she does not appear to adlib much on Idol, however her bubbly personality may just be perfect for radio.

Last night’s show of Australian Idol got over one million mark, which is great news for the show. At first I thought it must have been the Liza  effect, however after seeing this cover of Ricki-Lee on Ralph I am starting to think it is the Ricki-Lee effect. She looks amazing. Also she will have a new single out in November and a new album out next year.

Not for her all that dull and boring stuff. Ms Marckx concentrates on the important question of who the seat should be named after and makes the case for Coulter, in recognition of Queensland entertainer Ricki-Lee Coulter.
She argues:
I submit that this choice of name would leverage synergies between reality television and electoral process, progress the cause of youth electoral engagement and help project a contemporary understanding of Queensland as a vibrant place in which young Australians, and in particular young women, are valued and recognised for their contributions to nation-building.
Further, given the understanding of the lives of working Australian families that is demonstrated in Coulter’s catalogue of songs, such a choice would also accord with modern Australian values.
 I further submit that the redistribution committee embrace youth-driven technology and make the announcement of the name of this new electoral division by way of a “tweet”.

Now the issue Ms Marckx does not address in her submission is whether the seat should be known as the Electorate of Coulter or the Electorate of Ricki-Lee. Now as many of her young fans only know her as Ricki-Lee it would make sense to ensure maximum impact for the younger voters the member of this area should be known as the Federal Member for Ricki-Lee. On second thoughts that title sounds like a name of a bad porn flick. And to any would be commentors I don’t need an outline on what the plot of that movie would entail.

Ricki-Lee Coulter, who broke up with her husband Jamie Babbington, has been seen around Melbourne with Neighbours actor Brett Tucker.

The have been seen at the Australian Open and at other places. Brett Tucker says “It is early days yet.”
