Farmer Wants A Wife – Will Is On To Sam’s Motivation To Go Onto The Show

Farmer Will is not thick as it appears he has cottoned onto  Sam’s (the lady in red) motivation for going on Farmer Wants A Wife. See previous blog post here about her being a part time glamour model.

The Daily Telegraph reports that Farmer Will asks her about her motivations for going on the show. She of course says it is to find love. Yeah right.

The article states:

‘FARMER Wants a Wife’ contestant Samantha Adams is left red-faced after Farmer Will tells her he thinks she is only on the reality show to further her modelling career.

In a tense elimination tonight on Nine, the saucy Gold Coast nurse – who was exposed as a part-time lads mag glamour model by Confidential last week, is confronted by the gentle giant farmer just an hour before he is due to send one girl packing.

Will tells Sam he finds her attractive, but doesn’t think she is cut out for life on the farm.

Sam tries to convince Will to let her stay, telling him she is “looking for love and a lifetime partner”.

But Will’s other girl Eliza was a hit with his mum and sisters on last week’s show, while he coyly admitted his third choice Kathy has “a lovely smile and is a pretty girl”.

The tears and tantrums weren’t only reserved for Will’s farm though.

Victorian Farmer Tim drives 70km to comfort South Australian pal Farmer Trent who is struggling to pick which potential partner to send home, while one contestant is left having a complete breakdown after being told she has to leave.

Anyway it looks like an entertaining episode. Farmer Wants A Wife on Monday nights at 7.30pm on Channel Nine.

The TV Week also say that a lot of the farmers have taken a financial hit by being on the show. It takes about a month to film and Farmer Trent reckons he has lost $60,000 – $80,000.

Farmer Tim said he has lost $10,000 in lost wages, however Farmer Kev reckons he hasn’t lost money he just has not made any.

Also Farmer John says he is a natural romantic and did not require any prompting from the producers. This guy is definitely keen to get back on the horse, the dating one that is.

Farmer Will’s Girl Samantha May Not Be Looking For Love But Publicity

Farmer Wants A Wife has become a bit tarnished after this news in the Daily Telegraph which states the lady in red, Samantha has done some “glamour shots” for Zoo Magazine. Did she go on the show just to raise her own profile?

How the words glamour and Zoo Magazine go together is beyond me, however apparently she will appear in the magazine in a few weeks.

Farmer Wants A Wife – One Of Farmer John Girls Walks

Farmer John the 58 year old farmer looking for love did not have to make the tough decision about which person to eliminate this week, as one of his dates walked.

TV Week reveals:

Just a few days into the farm stay on lady decided country life was not for her and made a quick exit.

“I was shocked,” John says. “I treated every girl equally – there wasn’t any favouritism. I didn’t leave anyone out”.

Apparently the reality of farm life and feeling isolated from the outside world were enough to push the damsel over the edge. And while John 58, admits he wasn’t exactly thrilled to receive the news that she was going to leave, he says the girl was also “pretty upset about it”.

The other two women are now safe. John revealed the girl that left was not going to be eliminated.

“It wasn’t going to be her [the woman who's leaving] that was going home,” he said.

Farmer Will also revealed in the magazine that “Cathy was a bit of princess”

He said “I think they have an idea from watching McCleod’s Daughters”.

“Cathy was saying to me, ‘I didn’t sign up for this. I didn’t think it would be like this” Farmer Will said.

Interesting I wonder if Farmer Will will still pick her to stay on the farm with him.

Farmer Wants A Wife is on Channel Nine tonight at 7.30pm.

Farmer Wants A Wife – Hay Is The Prop De Jour

I am starting to lose the love for Farmers Wants A Wife, as last night’s episodes seemed a bit drawn out, and the scenes were so predictably set up, yes I know that is reality TV, but last night it bugged me just because I had seen the formula in six previous series. There is always hay in the date scenes, just so the city folk know that they are actually on a farm, or sitting on a log overlooking a valley.

However the positives about this show is the people who go on the show are authentic, they genuinely want to meet a partner. There is no cash prize, and none have gone to change their career because of their time on the show. As a dating show it is successful.

This episode the girls each farmer picked arrived for their farmstays. They were then thrown in the “deep end” to show them what it was life was like on the farm. These scenarios were all completely made up.

Farmer Tim who lives in a town so small that when he went on Farmers they had to cancel the town play as they had no one to replace him with had a first date with Jacalyn.

she told him she like him. He was chuffed that she liked him, however he didn’t appear THAT enthusiastic.

Farmer Will who is a gazillion feet tall knows what it is like to have his heart broken, as he was dumped when he moved back to the farm. Was it the farm or was it because he moved back in with his mum?

Samantha Will’s otherwise known as the Lady in Red came early to meet Will’s mother who had picked her as a wild card for her son. Interesting his mother picked such a hottie for her son, normally mothers go for the sensible looking types.

Cathy one of the other ladies was not pleased about the early arrival of Samantha, she gritted her teeth as she asked “how long have you been here?”. Hopefully there might be a scrag fight between them. The third girl Eliza looks like she will stay out of any cat fights.

Farmer Will kicked off with getting his girls to sticking their arms up the cows backside, because this is standard daily farm chores – not.

Eliza scored the first date. He thought there was chemistry between them. Will is a bit of a charmer, however he looks older than 25 years of age. He must have had a short rugby career. Will and her walked up a track with their arms around each other, is this to try to get the viewers to think Eliza is in with a shot of finding love with him?

Farmer Kev picked Fiona, Meg, and Megan and immediately made them do some sheep herding. Megan and Fiona stayed in their dresses for this chore. Meg who was wearing jeans got the date with him, and she said she found him attractive.

Farmer Kev revealed he was different from the other farmers and said he had always dreamed of marrying a brunette.

Farmer Trent who is a sweetie  has a thing for blondes as he picked three of them, Stef, Jenny and Lucy. He gave them a gift bag for all of them. And yes I did notice the Cherry Ripe product placement, and it worked I wanted one.

However he did show his immaturity by taking the girls to a trough to ‘fix’ on the pretense of having a mud fight. The Farmers equivalent to jelly wrestling apparently.

He picked Jenny to have a date with as he likes that she is happy and always smiling. I wonder if he has a poster of Poh on his wall.

Farmer John the old bloke of the pack picked Alison, Belinda, and Tracey. Belinda scored the first date, after doing a stupid plaiting of a horses tail task.  When he asked her what she wanted in a guy she responded with “a decent person” which means not an arsehole. She has probably met a few in her time.

Farmer Frank picked Tenielle, Jess and Peta-Marie. He then made them do a tyre changing competition obviously no cows to stick hands up their clackers.

Tenielle won and she got to have dinner with Frank, with the other two girls cooking. However once they served he invited them to join them. Tenielle diplomatically said she didn’t mind, but this must be an indication he is not that into her.

Farmer Wants A Wife – It Only Gets Interesting Once They Are On The Farm

Farmer Wants A Wife premiered tonight with a 90 minute speed dating episode, however the show only ever gets interesting once the girls hit the farms. Once they are out of their comfort zones then the fun begins.

Also after watching seven seasons of the show you would think I would know to press the extend recording button as it cut off before the end, so I did not get all the girls the farmers picked.

A girl was bitching on twitter that there were no hotties this year. But I thought most of the farmers were cute, a part from John, but he is 58, and a bit of an old 58 at that. Not like Jeff from The Amazing Race Australia who seemed like a youthful 60 year old when he was running around the world with his son Luke.

Below is a quick precis about the farmers and which girls they picked:

Farmer Kev is 33. He is an advertisment for wearing sun screen as he looks older then that. He has never been in love.Natalie asks why he is single? I don’t think he is going to admit to being an arsehole. He said he needed to open himself up more. He picked Fiona whose said one of her skills was skulling a bottle of cider. Meg was picked as was Megan the girl picked by Farmer Kev’s brother.

Farmer Trent says he has not been in love either. However he is only 24 so he has that as an excuse. He seems very sweet, and he also hinted that he was cashed up. He picked Lucy, Steph who rides cows, and he picked his sister’s choice Jenny. She looked much older than him.

Farmer John is the oldest contestant ever on the show. He is a widower. He doesn’t seem very charismatic. but he seem very nice, but what will be difficult for another woman is that he thinks his former wife was perfect. However it has been 14 years since she passed.  They showed only wedding photos of her, I wondered why there were no later ones of her.

He picked Alison, Tracey, and Belinda. Tracey was a bit shocked she was picked.

Farmer Frank is in the remote farmer, his farm is four hours west of Townsville. Apparently there is a women drought in his part of the world. He seems a bit dull, but the girls thought he was hot. He chose Peter, Jessica and Tenielle. He said he could not stop thinking about Tenielle.

Farmer Tim also lives in a town where there are not any single women. He is a volunteer fire fighter, and an amateur actor. He seemed very nice. Also I think he may have had a six pack.

Farmer Will was put into the show by his sister. He is a former professional rugby player. In his past he picked the land over his former girlfriend. Katie from Canberra did not realise he was a rugby player and not a league player when she did a cheerleaders impersonation.

Also the next episode is this Wednesday on Channel Nine at 7.00pm.

Farmer Wants A Wife – Marriage And Baby

Read this blog post with the music of Love Is In The Air going through your head, as Farmer Wants A Wife again proves that long term relationships can be found through the show.

As I have said before ditch RSVP and apply for this show.

Scott and Clare from series four of the show have gotten hitched. The Woman’s Day who had paid for the exclusive of the wedding say there was a Top Gun theme.

They are honeymooning at the Hope Estate in the Hunter Valley, where they met for the first time in April 2009 while filming the show.

In other news one of my favourite couples Farmer Damien and Rachael are having a baby. The couple who live on Damien’s farm in Tasmania are having a boy which is  due in June.

Farmer Wants A Wife – Farmers Say They Are Forced To Be Mushy

With the finale of Farmer Wants A Wife screening on Channel Nine tonight, some of the farmers reveal what it is like to be on a reality show. It is no surprise that they revealed those little love lines are not exactly spontaneous.

The Daily Telegraph reveals some of reality TV’s secrets in this article:

HE lovelorn blokes of Farmer Wants A Wife have described the reality show as more deftly crafted than candid, suggesting producers had to help coax them into displaying much of their on-screen affection – but they loved every minute of it.

The saccharine-sweet small talk and declarations of love that are the meat and potatoes of The-Bachelor-meets-the-bush program didn’t come as naturally as you’d think, say this season’s country singletons.

“It does feel a bit like acting sometimes,” said 26-year-old Farmer Nick. “I’d have a big genuine chat and they’d go ‘this is great but they’d say we can’t use any of it’ so you’d pull out something corny or something you wouldn’t usually do and we’d be away.”

“You’re running against the time and they’re saying we need this by then and they won’t let you get there and talk about the footy for an hour. They can’t use none of that so that’s when you’d end up saying “you’ve got beautiful eyes” or something stupid.

“You know what they want. They want the corny lines where you say ‘you’re beautiful, you’ve got beautiful eyes’ and all that sort of stuff.

Farmer Mark, a fruit and coffee farmer from tropical North Queensland said producers didn’t want him to give too much away too early.

“There were constant cheesy lines saying your feelings for every girl,” said the 27-year-old. “Even if you didn’t really have feelings for every girl you had to play it up so the viewers thought you were interested in all three girls. At times you just felt like being honest and the producers would be like ‘nah don’t say that’.”

Executive producer Karen Walker claimed they didn’t have to ‘train’ the farmers to open up about their feelings, but rather gave them a “nurturing environment” including sitting them down with a psychologist to discuss the experience beforehand.

“It’s a gently, gently approach,” Walker said. “It’s a lot of sitting down and talking to them, we just had to ask them enough questions to get them to feel comfortable, but I think we create a really safe environment for them to open up and say how they feel. We can’t put words in their mouth, they say what they say and in the end it works, it’s one of the most genuine shows on television.”

“Repeating and repeating and repeating the same scenes especially when its emotional scenes and you’re having to talk about your feelings and love and emotions, and to repeat yourself on the same things by the fifth time the love is gone, the emotion is gone, you’ve lost all enthusiasm, please just get what you want and let’s move on. It’s embarrassing enough as it is.”

Farmer Ben says producers had to cajole him into making a decision between two girls when he was faced with indecision.

“I was finding hard to choose so I didn’t want to rush into one, so I held off a bit, they were going ‘come on, can you do something, we want something,’ you could say they coax you into it, give you a bit of a push and a shove to get something happening.”

It should be noted the Farmer’s also said they had a ball on the show.

Farmer Wants A Wife Reunion Special On 6 April

Farmer Wants A Wife will be holding a reunion special on Wednesday the  6th of April. This will be very popular as host Natalie Gruzlewski takes a special trip around Australia to catch up with some of our favourite farmers from the first five series. This may answer some “Where are they now questions”.
Here is where they will be going and seeing:
In series one we met Farmer Chris and it was love at first sight when he laid eyes on the gorgeous Kim. Now, after a happy engagement and a special country wedding, we get to meet the very first farmer baby.

Farmer Jenny was the first female farmer on the program and Australia fell in love with her and her country bloke Owen in series three. Not long after the final episode they decided to go their own way, but Jenny then wound up in the arms of a local farmer she has known for ten years. Farmer Jenny is now happily married and has a beautiful baby girl, Olive.

Farmer Paul, best known as Farmer Macca, has been one of the most talked about farmers since the program began. Macca fell head over heels for woolclasser Nerena in series three, and in the final episode viewers’ hearts broke as they watched him turn up alone to the Hunter Valley. But since leaving the show he has found a very special new love and moved on happily with his country life.

Natalie also catches up with Farmer Charlie from series five who was adored for his cheeky charm. Did love indeed last between him and city girl Alison?

Watch Wednesday 6 April at 8.30pm on Channel 9.
