Jonathan Is The Peace Maker In The House – Yes Really

At last Jonathan Daddia is getting some good press, apparently there was fear and loathing in the deluxe Masterchef Australia house, when the three former contestants re-enter the competition.

The three returning contestant’s say their comeback well and truly divides the once-friendly group.

In an interview in TV Week they talk about what it was like to re-enter the house.

“Because they were tense with the process, they took it out on us,” one contestant explains. “Jonathan, Alvin and Marion were unbelieveable from the get-go, but the others didn’t take it too well.”

The three said it took a good week for all seven of their peers to come around – and Jonathan says he prompted the change of attitude.

“A week went past and people still hadn’t got over it,” he explains. “I was actually the one who said, ‘Listen, it’s about time you got over this – they’re here now. Just focus on your cooking – it’s not nice to make people feel awkward in the house’.”

Ok so he won’t get nominated for a nobel peace prize but it does indicate he is showing some maturity about the not unexpected re-entry of competitors.  Maybe Jono, Marion and Alvin are confident in their cooking abilities unlike the other four.

By the way a friends husband knows Jonathan, and when asked what he was like I was told he was “a typical IT dude”. So interpret that as you will….

Does this mean you know who got back in for sure, or are you quoting an article somewhere?

2 Airwalk { 06.28.10 at 6:29 pm }

Apparently according to Dan its Courtney, Devon and Jimmy…

3 dmc { 06.28.10 at 6:32 pm }

Claire and Adam being lawyers would not be okay with this because it isn’t due process and basically unfair. I’ll wait until I see how hard the next challenge is but I think if you are going to be readmitted then you need to go through a bit more than just a couple of cooking tasks.

Well the way some of them were kicked out was so arbitrary that I don’t really have a problem with exactly how they are brought back. How can anyone say it’s fair when someone is eliminated for saying spearmint instead of mint? Etc…

So for some of them to behave like kindergarten children is just pathetic. It’s good to know that Jonathon, Alvin and Marion can behave like grown-ups.

Well, we have to remember that they’ve been stuck in that kitchen and/or shared house for several months now, and are probably all looking forward to the end (and being able to see friends/family/anyone not affiliated with Masterchef). Finding 3 contestants back in the house essentially tacks on a couple more tv weeks, or 15-20 days of filming to their stay, so I’d probably be a bit annoyed as well if I was one of them (although we could all see this coming, since they did it last year).

7 Rosie { 06.28.10 at 8:14 pm }

Anyone wanna bet whether or not Claire would have come back, had she been eliminated?

8 CG { 06.28.10 at 8:53 pm }

The UK-Paris week felt very “Amazing Race”. Now all this talk of “the House” is staring to sound like “Big Brother”. Lets just COOK, people.

So who has a bad ‘tude: Claire, Adam, Aaron, and Callum!

Claire is really digging her own grave in terms of likeability. I cannot see how she can have a media career or career dealing with the public after her performance on MC. She is just a mean, selfish, bw*atch.

9 Buzz { 06.28.10 at 8:56 pm }

Hmph, a typical mad-eyed, tonsured IT guy maybe. I can see Jono on helpdesk asking someone “is it plugged in?” while glowering, flapping a limp wrist, rolling his eyes and generally indicating he is a genetically superior specimen.
We should be grateful he’s there to keep the muggles in line :)

10 AnonyMousse { 06.28.10 at 9:40 pm }

Speaking as someone who’s been on the ‘is it plugged in’ side of the conversation, being assured it was, and going through thirty tortureous minutes of every valid fix I can think of only to find out that it actually wasn’t plugged in, I can understand where the glowering comes in, Buzz.

And wow, a couple of them really were super-unhappy. It looked like one or two even didn’t attend the champagne ‘we’re SO happy you’re back’ conversation at the end of tonight’s episode, and I’m betting those things are usually mandatory.

11 Miss Jane { 06.28.10 at 9:41 pm }

Geez Claire had a puss on her tonight to give Joanne a run for her money and Aaron’s upbeat comments belied his facial expressions. Very funny ! Must say I am liking Alvin more as the contest moves on, his critique of the dishes was fair and honest and his response to the returned 3 was great.

12 Miss Jane { 06.28.10 at 9:42 pm }

Yes !
My hubby commented that Claire was not there for drinkies at the end…mm

13 seepi { 06.28.10 at 9:59 pm }

Poor Claire – she is taking this whole thing waaaaaay too seriously. her critiques of the dishes were soooooo super serious as well.

Actually I thought Marion came across a bit finicky and ‘i know best’ in the food critiques too.

I think Alvin and Johnno came out of it well.

I did wonder if Claire and Marion got more of a shock, as their end of the table weren’t part of the whispering about it being Jimmy’s curry. I thought Claire and Peter got on well too.

14 pollywaffle { 06.28.10 at 10:06 pm }

Peter looked like he must have taken up all Matt P’s freebie invites while he was in the UK

15 pollywaffle { 06.28.10 at 10:21 pm }

Aaron, errr Rhett Butler , you act awful cool….but frankly you did give a damn

Marion, Marion, Marion – you’ve left Jan Brady in the UK, and now you are kinda smarty pantsish

16 K.C. { 06.28.10 at 10:23 pm }

It looked like Claire and Aaron and maybe someone else had skipped the little drinks session at the end. And yes – Jono who I have found annoying up til now seemed bemused rather than pissed off. But how shitty did Claire and Aaron look. Loved it!

Also – has anyone else noticed just how many freaking lawyers there are in the Top 20???? Claire, Peter, Adam and Sharnee was a law student. Any theories?

17 pollywaffle { 06.28.10 at 10:27 pm }

If they ever remake Bleak House, Aaron and Claire are a shoe-in

18 pollywaffle { 06.28.10 at 10:30 pm }

Maybe lawyers are along with band managers are the chosen few who can understand ( and therefore find loopholes in) the convoluted MC contractual obligations

19 pollywaffle { 06.28.10 at 10:32 pm }

Or perhaps Geo has a lot of chorophyll poisoning suits he needs help with?

20 AT { 06.28.10 at 10:34 pm }

I’m surprised about Callum being one of the people who didn’t take it too well. Always thought he was easy going with everyone. Jono didn’t seem too please in the show when he found out about the 6 eliminated contestants but good on him that he was welcomed them back and didn’t act all grouchy about it like Claire and Aaron did. Bonus points on him for trying to make peace in the house too!

21 K.C. { 06.28.10 at 10:34 pm }

Or maybe being a lawyer really is so soul-destroying that they are prepared to put up with MP’s god-awful puns just for a chance to escape

22 seepi { 06.28.10 at 10:52 pm }

top lines of the night:

peter: “there’s no such thing as a second chance”
(as he starts the second chance cook-off challenge.

Alvin: “we had to put our smart clothes on”
(as all the men in the house are shown putting on pink shirts, while Claire and Marion stick with white.)

23 Reality Raver { 06.28.10 at 11:18 pm }

Pollywaffle – loved the Bleak house comment, so true. Or Jane Eyre.

Seepi – Oh god the pink shirts must be in with metrosexual middle class urban guys.

KC – I reckon law is a great degree to get but some of the work would be boring and unsatisfying.

AT – he seemed ok about it on screen but he was barely in the episode tonight.

Anonymouse – I reckon they would have been told approx how long filming is going to go for.

Miss Jane – Alvin took it in his stride.

Buzz – I can neither confirm nor deny whether I have been asked is it plugged in and it wasn’t. Cleaners fault at work. Well that is my excuse.

CG – Yes Claire is getting some shocking editing.

Molk – oh yes i forgot to put in TV Week

24 Courtney Reckons Jonothan Was Not Happy About The Contestant’s Returning | reality ravings { 06.29.10 at 10:01 am }

25 Wurstsemmel { 06.29.10 at 10:10 am }

Claire, get over yourself.

Contestants coming back in should not have been a surprise. Supposedly people watched last season. You can bet your bottom dollar too that if any of the final lot had been bumped earlier, they’d have been chomping at the bit to get back in.

If they’ve seen off this competition before, why should they be concerned about doing so again. The truth is perhaps that some eliminations were just unlucky and maybe some of the returned contestants are more of a threat than they’d like.

Anyway, to stay away from the ‘welcome back’ drinks says a lot about those people.

26 AT { 06.30.10 at 12:16 am }

actually i take back what i said about callum above based on how he reacted in the previews. pretty obvious callum was pissed too. tbh im more surprised that adam was one of the people who apparently acted cold towards the contestentsaccording to that article. but who knows what really happened?
