Seriously how good would the Mardi Gras party have been last night, George Michael and Adam Lambert. Adam the runner up from last year’s American Idol closed the party, and above his his performance. Please note it is not the greatest quality but it shows he was getting into the Mardi Gras spirit, with his costume and dance moves.

Also here is Adam Lambert at his signing at Hum records on Oxford St. Just for the record I was not there.

“Vote for the dancing Australia,” moaned Matt Lee down the camera obviously not happy with who landed in the bottom three couples. “I think we are going to have to go backstage to discuss this,” he continued. What? Don’t you judge it on the solos? Clearly Australia had just wrecked the story the judges thought was going to play out tonight. 

I was surprised that  Carly and Kieran were in the bottom three, but  Grace and Nick, and Jess and Doug I wasn’t.

I know the judges raved about Grace and Nick’s hip hop routine, but I found it flat and dull. Jess and Doug just have not popped yet, they should, but maybe they just lack chemistry. Issi and Don should have been there but obviously they have a lot of fans out there.

And Jason Coleman gave the viewer another lecture at the end of the show about voting for the best dancers, but really the show has always been about voting for Australia’s favourite dancer. Now some years that will mean the best dancer will win, other years it won’t. Deal with it.

However I think the judges eliminated the wrong girl. I thought Carly should have gone. I thought her solo was more rhythmic gymnastics then dancing. And Grace’s I really enjoyed. I think Grace has more depth to her dancing than Carly. Also I think Kieran and Grace would have made a great partnership.

With the boys I thought Doug was the logical choice, for three weeks in a row he has been pretty weak with the lifts and has not stood out. Also I thought his solo was more athletic than dancing. However I found him very likeable.

Now if Don could give Issi an extra hard squeeze on the ribs Grace might be able to come back in the competition.

The third contract was announced tonight it will be a role in the musical Hairspray. David Atkins is to be the director and Jason Coleman the choreographer. The prizes this year are fabulous.

Unfortunately for Ten the ratings are not as good as they were when it was screening on Sunday nights. However with Adam Lambert, the American Idol runner-up on the show tonight, that could pull in a few more viewers. And in unsurprising news Adam announced he will be performing at Mardi Gras.  Hope he has a ball.

Mary Murphy really does have the best job in the world. She gets to fly around and be a guest judge on So You Think You Can Dance franchises around the world.

Mary is known for her loud scream and putting people on her hot tamale train. Yes she is nice, but she is not afraid to tell the truth if she thinks the routine sucks.

Adam Lambert will also be singing on an episode of the show, I don’t think it will be tomorrow’s night one,  if so he will be a tad jet lagged. The go this year with the special guest performers is pre-recording them.

So You Think You Can Dance Australia is on Channel Ten tonight at 8.00pm.

The greatest thing ever to hit American Idol, Adam Lambert, is coming to Australia. Adam Lambert who was last year’s runner up, but in reality post Idol is the winner will be here to promote his album For Your Entertainment  gets released on March 5.

His first single Whataya Want From Me  was written by Pink.

He will be signing copies of his album at Hum in Oxford St on Saturday March 6 from Noon.

He says he would love to sing at Mardi Gras, and chances are the organisers will be desperate to get him. I would have thought they would have a float in his honour, considering he was the first Idol contestant ever to be officially “out”.

This year’s American Idol runner-up the very talented Adam Lambert has been generating publicity since his time on the show, not just because of his prodigioius singing and performance skills but because he is gay and is not hiding it.

Personally I don’t think it is an issue or anything that his sexuality should be attracting much publicity except if he was sleeping with George Clooney.

But after a ‘risque’ performance (see above picture) at the American Music Awards (AMA) the other night has meant controversy has carried on for days in the US.

Adam Lambert has said there is a double standard on TV, as the girl on girl kiss that Madonna and Britany did at the same show a few year’s prior.

He said on The Early Show Adam Lambert said, “I think that if it had been a female pop performer doing the moves that were on the stage, I don’t think there would be nearly as much of an outrage. At all. Like I said, there were other performers doing risque things. I think it’s because I’m a gay male, and people haven’t seen that before.”

All this in the month when he has released his first album, the sales must be going stratospheric.

 Interesting that Australian Idol contestant Nathan Brake picked to sing a cover version of Tears For Fears, Mad World. This year’s American Idol runner-up chose to do this song as well, and used to stamp his authority and favourtism on the competition. Who do you think sung it better? I  think Nathan did a fine rendition, but Adam Lambert’s just has star quality writtren all over it.

For all you Manu Feidel fans and there appear to be a lot of them both before and after his appearance on MasterChef Australia, he has a restaurant called Manu At L’Etoile. His traditional french establishment was given a good review in the Sunday Telegraph.

Adam Lambert – Could Be The Next Lead Singer Of Queen

American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert would be considered to be the next lead singer of Queen News.com.au reports. Brian May was not adverse to the idea of Adam Lambert stepping into the iconic Freddie Mercury shoes. The article said “But (drummer Roger Taylor) and I are definitely hoping to have a meaningful conversation with (Lambert) at some point. It’s not like we, as Queen, would rush into coalescing with another singer just like that. It isn’t that easy. But I’d certainly like to work with Adam. That is one amazing instrument he has there,” May told the magazine in an e-mail exchange. 

Personally I think Adam has the talent and charisma to make it on his own rather than singing Queen covers, no matter how fabulous the band is.

Brian McFadden Wedding on Hold To Delta Goodrem

Football Superstar host and rumoured Australian Idol participant Brian McFadden’s wedding to Delta Goodrem has been postponed. They are denying any relationship issues, just “work commitments”. I am assuming they mean hers not his. Full story News.com.au

Brian McFadden has been in the news lately because he was the reason for Dicko storming out of Australian Idol auditions. Of course this could have been a beat up to try and whip up some drama and hence interest in the upcoming season of Idol.

But also his other alleged fuck wittery was at the Astra’s where he supposedly dissed former co-host of Football Superstar, Amy Taylor, by inferring she did not have a brain. Fully story here.. Apparently she is considering legal action. Personally I thought her natural on screen presence was refreshing in the first season of the show.

If he and Delta are on the rocks it will be interesting to see how long his star lasts in Australia.

Paulina Porizkova from America’s Next Top Model Is A Victim Of The Economic Crisis

Apparently Paulina Porizkova judge from ANTM has been sacked because of the economy EW.com reports. In a statment Porizkova said she was gone because the show had “gotten too fat and they needed to cut some fat and the fat was me.”

This week iconic film director Quentin Tarantino will be the mentor on American Idol where the Idol’s will have to sing songs from a movie. I hope someone sings something from the muppets. I think Adam Lambert would sing the hell out of Rainbow Connection. More details here.
