Masterchef Australia – Good Review For Julie Goodwin’s Show And Skye Craig

For the guys who wanted a post on Skye Craig here it is. Former Masterchef Australia contestant Skye will be promoting pineapples. An article on Nine MSN says that:

Ms Craig, who’s working with Tropical Pineapples to promote the Queensland grown product, says she prefers fresh food rich in natural Vitamin C to popping a pill.

“I prefer to look at preventative measures in terms of taking care of your body,” she said.

“One cup of fresh pineapple gives you 100 per cent of the recommended daily intake of Vitamin C, so for me that’s certainly a preference – and that’s the way I like to live my life.

“I really believe that with the right amount of fresh healthy food plus rest and exercise your immune system becomes really strong and you don’t need to go to the pharmacy as much.”

The MasterChef contestant said pineapples could be used creatively, such as in puddings with coconut sorbet, or on kebabs.

Also good news for Julie Goodwin’s new cooking show Home Cooked, as it got a good review from influential News Limited TV writer Dianne Butler.

She said the show was good, and thought it would have been a good lead in to the 6.00pm news on a weeknight. She said the banter between Julie and her guest was good, and she came across as knowledgable. On the down side she did think the recipes were a bit tired.

Julie’s show Home Cooked premieres on Channel Nine this Saturday at 5.30pm.

Skye’s too good for them pineapples.
Can’t they have her promote a better fruit?

Like a pineapple, I was crushed when she left the show. I miss the fringes and bandanas, not to mention the deep husky growl of her cougar tones.

Botox adds up, if you can fund it by becoming a ‘Pineapple Bitch’ why not?

4 Pollywaffle { 08.04.10 at 9:24 pm }

How long will it take the Pineapple Board to get her into a bikini made from her bandana, and then onto jumping out of a pineapple in bogan infested shopping centres….from there, only one place….. human dessert in blown up champagne globe at a horse race

5 reality raver { 08.04.10 at 9:53 pm }

The champagne globe imagery had me laughing. She would probably holding one of her pineapple lemon myrtle syllabub desserts.

6 Rosie { 08.04.10 at 11:41 pm }

Hey at least they haven’t got her pushing melons…

What are you implying Pollywaffle??
Skye is surely too wholesome, herbal and natural for botox. Isn’t she?

8 Buzz { 08.05.10 at 1:57 pm }

Boner … fraid not! Takes an awful lot of maintenance to keep that ‘byron hinterland’ smooth glow.
Caught poh’s show again this week, with her local butcher, and thought it was terrific – RR how does poh rate on the cooking show celebu-scale?

9 Reality Raver { 08.05.10 at 5:20 pm }

Buzz – Poh celub-scale is getting there but nowhere as good as Anthony Bourdain’s.

10 Culinary Boner { 08.05.10 at 6:13 pm }

Raver, perhaps Po needs to go on some existential benders involving hazardous drug taking and sexual liaisons like Tony Bourdain did? Oh, that’s right. She’s been painted topless. So in Aussie terms that makes her ultra-bohemian.

11 Buzz { 08.05.10 at 10:35 pm }

Skye would call it ‘uber’ bohemian. Cos she’s hinterland-cool.

12 brain dead dave { 08.06.10 at 12:34 pm }

Skye’s into saving whales…she told Matt Preston he should think about going on a diet.

Poh lives just down the road. I’ve seen her out in her paint spattered jeans. .she’s a massive Pohemian. Her little Scottish dog pi$$es anywhere it wants.

13 Culinary Boner { 08.06.10 at 2:37 pm }

pity her dog’s a peehemian

Did you see the review of Julie’s show in The Age’s Green Guide? I can’t seem to find it online, but it was certainly at odds with that other review…

I watched Julie’s new show last night and must say it exceeded my expectations. I really felt like Julie was giving me a big warm hug through the whole show – she came across as sweet, mumsy and very natural. Recipes, well, they were easy enough – but not inspiring, but she did have some appeal to make me keep watching.

Actually I was making roast pork belly round the time I was watching her (and she did a roast pork belly) and I was having issues with the whole skin up or down thing (had referred to numerous chef recipes who do it differently!). So if Julie’s crackliing is to be believed with skin down the whole time, that was impressive.

Anyway, she made me think of Claire and her “cooking from the hearth” – Julie is cooking from the hug – have never watched a tv show where I feel like I’m getting all hugged and loved by one smiley lady on a tv kitchen set.

I wake up at 2am in a cold sweat, gasping for air, chest feeling pinned down by some demonic force. I’ve just had the worst dream ever. Worse than anything involving leather clad mexican drug gangs, Satan or Kyle Sandilands. My God, ” Julie was giving me a big warm hug – she came across as sweet, mumsy and very natural”. I spend the rest of the night with the light on.
