Marion Grasby has been smarter than the average bear when it has come to her post Masterchef Australia career. She has launched her own product range which is expanding this year, and also started filming her own TV show in Thailand.
This has now culminated in Marion’s Thailand which will start in May 14 on Lifestyle Food.
More information on the show:
Marion Grasby shows us how to cook authentic Thai meals in a simple, fun and approachable way that only an Aussie girl with a Thai Mum could when Marion’s Thailand premieres Tuesday, May 14 at 8.30pm, only on LifeStyle FOOD.
Bright and bubbly Marion was taught to cook traditional Thai food by her mother, Noi, who was born and raised in a rural Thai village and is herself a Cordon Bleu cook, so Marion had the perfect culinary education growing up.
While she started as a television journalist, Marion is better known from her appearance on MasterChef Australia season 2, where she was a clear fan favourite and widely tipped to win the series. Since then she has released her first cookbook ‘Marion – Recipes and stories from a hungry chef’ and has created ‘Marion’s Kitchen’, a successful new range of genuine Thai ingredient kits crafted from the traditional recipes handed down to her through her Thai family.
In the brand new series, Marion’s Thailand, Marion combines her knowledge of Thai food and the authentic recipes she has inherited, with an insatiable journalist’s curiosity to learn more about how Thai cuisine started and the cultural influences which have seen it grow into one of the most popular cuisines in the World.
The 10-part series is beautifully photographed against the vibrant natural colours and textures of Thailand, in and around Marion’s traditional family home, where her great food and some amazing locations come together to create a real feast for the senses.
In this first episode, Marion travels back to her maternal homeland and after picking up her mum and dad in Bangkok – heads south, away from the hustle and bustle of a modern city and deep into the Thai countryside to a modest little village called Nakhom Chung.
This is where her mum’s family still live a traditional Thai life. Their houses are modest, open timber structures with few mod cons and no refrigeration. Here, the kitchens revolve around just a wok and a flame and combined with the freshest market ingredients – produce the most delicious feasts.

After weeks of rumours Celebrity Apprentice Season Two has now been announced, and one name they managed not to leak out was Patti Newton.
Patti Newton will be an interesting choice as she was very popular on her stint on Dancing With The Stars, however the rigours of this show are much harder and the ‘real’ Patti might slip out.
The Daily Telegraph have announced the cast as:
- David Hasselhoff – does he need an introduction?;
- Marion Grasby – former Masterchef contestant;
- Jason Akermanis – AFL player;
- Lauryn Eagle – Water skier and model;
- Nathan Joliffe – Winner of season one of The Amazing Race Australia;
- Fiona O’Loughlin – Comedian;
- Tania Zaetta – faded starlet and Bollywood star;
- Ian ‘Dicko’ Dickson – Former Australia Idol judge, and former host of Can of Worms;
- Ben Dark – reporter on Getaway;
- Vince Sorrenti – comedian;
- Charlotte Dawson – judge on Australia’s Next Top Model.
It is a good cast guaranteed to attract a diverse viewer. Dicko is always popular as is Marion Grasby. Charlotte Dawson will ensure she gets a lot of screen time, and chances are she will be looking hot as last week she sequestered herself up at a health farm.
Fiona O’Loughlin and Vince Sorrenti will provide some laughs. Hopefully Nathan Joliffe will show more personality then he did on The Amazing Race but then when your are suffering chronic jetlag it is probably hard to razzle.
Tania Zaetta may get cast as the villain, and I expect Ben Dark may want to keep his “dark side” contained on camera.
My only issue with The Hoff being on here, is will he actually take the challenges seriously.
The show start shooting this week.
What do you think of the cast?

Long time readers of this blog know that I do like a bit of snark, but when I started I was probably a bit more caustic.
Earlier in the week I launched Reality Ravings Consulting (read about it here) and it generated a fair bit of publicity. A Current Affair wanted to do a story and the producer who rang me after a quick chat said “Oh I was on So You Think You Can Dance and you criticised my dress”. Oops.
Anyway props to her she doesn’t hold grudges so did not bitch slap me. Anyhow I searched through my blog and read what I had written, she was like my Season 1 whipping person, well after Matt Lee, on SYTYCD….
So big apologies Stephanie. And for the record she is much hotter and together then I ever was in my early twenties.
Anyway here is a link to the interview on A Current Affair. Props to the delightful Marion Grasby for backing in my consultancy. Next time I am at Woolworths I will buy Ms Marion’s thai goods as a thank you.
Polly from The Block and now Celebrity Apprentice I think misunderstood what it is all about. It is not about faking it but ensuring people are presented in the best possible light. As I have said people pay professionals to write their CV’s to ensure theirs stands out and they get an interview for a job. I see my service as being similar to that.

I have given Marion Grasby a fair bit of blog loving, and I am a bit peeved she has told Masterchef Australia contestants to stay away from online forum so they don’t see the negative things written about them.
The article in Nine MSN said:
MasterChef 2010 series runner up Marion Grasby has warned this year’s contestants to stay away from internet forums to avoid the online abuse — and even death threats — that dogged the stars of My Kitchen Rules.
Gasby, 28, told ninemsn contestants should prepare themselves for the fact some people would be critical and nasty toward them.
“There’s always going to be people who criticise you, whether you’re on a TV show, whether you’re an accountant, whether you’re an architect,” she said.
“You just have to try and ignore it… there’s people who say bad things about me, there’s people who say bad things about anyone.”
Somehow I don’t think this year’s like previous series contestants be able to resist seeing what people are saying about them on the internet. I think they just have to realise some people are going to love them and others dislike them.

On the day of the Season Three launch of Masterchef Australia, I thought it apt to talk about one of the “winners” from last season, Marion Grasby.
She has her own range of thai sauces and cookbook coming out, and she also has produced her own TV show set in Thailand called Marion’s Kitchen. I have to say I am impressed with the production values. Fingers crossed it gets picked up by a TV network as it deserves to be.
Below is a link to it online, check it out and tell me what you think:
Also she is showing her media savviness by blogging about what happened behind the scenes on her website.
I will be at the Masterchef Australia launch and will be tweeting at @realityraver, unless I am having a “tete a tete” with Matt Moran or Gary Mehigan which of course I will record and post….
However, here is what we currently know about the show on this post done previously, scroll down the comments there are some hilarious ones like Pollywaffles.
