Masterchef Australia – Is Jonathan Daddier This Year’s Villain?

One thing Jonathan Daddier CANNOT complain about is the amount of air time he is getting on Masterchef Australia compared to the other contestants, but he is probably a bit miffed about how he is being portrayed.

He is definitely being given the negative edit, and whether this really reflects his true personality is yet to be seen.

The Daily Telegraph has an article that says Jonathan has been getting the most comments on the forums, but a lot of it is negative.

The article also goes on to say that he is using strategy as well as cooking to advance in the competition. Personally I don’t find this a negative thing.

The article said:

Many viewers say Daddia is playing MasterChef as though it is Survivor.

To them, Daddia is using strategy as well as his cooking skills to give himself the best possible chance of winning.

Others point to the contestants’ reaction to Daddia winning the elimination challenges to show that he is unpopular in the MasterChef house.

“He is clearly trying to manipulate the rest of the contestants in the house to earn their sympathy. He is a manipulator and it doesn’t take a psychologist to know it,” a viewer wrote.

Daddia has his fans, though.

They admire his determination and steely reserve.

“The guy’s obviously very intelligent and comes across as being very articulate. His cooking talents are obvious,” one fan wrote.

Other rumours circulating are that he worked as an apprentice chef as some stage. I have emailed Channel Ten for comment on this, I will update if I get a response.

He has done work experience at Gordon Ramsay’s  restaurant in London, however other contestants have also done that when they realised they were on the show.

Anyway if Jonathan is going to be the villain of the show I wish he would be a true villain and harden up and stop crying.

UPDATE: I have received a response from Fremantle – they stated Jonathan has not worked as an apprentice chef, and confirmed his work experience at Gordon Ramsay’s which was some time ago.

Interestingly enough the most recent contestant to be eliminated Courtney said to that Jonathan is “nice”.

Is this a SPOILER? What stage of production would they be in now?Are these two the final 2?
Last paragraph

Meant to say Love the last line.
Made me think ,why is he the only one getting a constantly bad edit though?

Will he whip out a hidden immunity idol?

Perhaps there was one buried deep in the Black Forest Cake?

C10 have to whip up some kind of controversy because I’d say otherwise their audience figures would be dropping.

Either Jonathan is a sneaky rat who likes to fake his emotions or he really is a pathetic sobbing pansy. Either way its a dilemma for him.

Jonathan has a lot of air time lately, no doubt. Yet I think it has been unfair for him seeing that either the clips were the crying or the rogue bits. What are the producers trying to do here? -_-”

Can’t wait for the update from Channel Ten, RR.

He is no way as unlikeable as Chris was (edited to be) last year!
I hope more people will like him as the series continues. I don’t even know why he’s disliked in the first place! He was a bit annoying at the start, but other than that, he’s been fine. I think more people hate him because of the fact that some people hate him.

Lucy – I have no idea where they are up to in filming so have not idea whether it is a spoiler or not.

Wurstsemmel – I wonder if anyone will even win one. Hopefully they will so we can see how the damn thing works.

Mac – Poor bugger – damn if you do, damn if you don’t for him.

Ericg – update up now

Thanks, RR.

Anthony, although we all know this is a reality tv and also the fact that editing is done before being aired, many dislike him not because of a chain reaction. You never know what Jonathan will come up with – being a villain or a cry baby. That in itself frustrates the viewers nationally.

Anyways, seeing that he had worked with Gordon Ramsey (or at least trained under him) before, I now know why he could handle his culinary skills so well in the kitchen. So, does that mean he falls outside the definition of ‘amateur chef’? Hehe.

Agree the focus is on Jonathan but is he the Maguffin of MC? Its not entirely implausible the producers would like to totally throw us off the plot by lo-lighting the really worthy ones ( Im hopeful here) to make it look they snuck up on the outside for the finish.

Wurstsemmel hidden moonitty idol was in the form of a cherry pip, but unfortunately Geo found it and so he is imoon fromlimination.
Anthony The character portrayed by the editing of Johnathon is not a likeable one. Also before the brown effluent hit the rotary oscillator Chris b’s character was not edited in a great light, but no worse than Johnathon at the same point of time. But the intense insane hatred he has seemed to generate all came later.
