Even in the ratings lull there are some good shows coming up on TV and have been showing.
A lot have been pay TV like Million Dollar Decorators, Shahs of Sunset and Silicon Valley Start Ups on Arena TV. Please note it appears that I am about the only person in Australia that loved Silicon Valley.
However on Tuesday night on Studio another great reality show starts called Work Of Art. It is an elimination reality TV show with artists battling it out. Each week there is an art related challenge and one person is eliminated.
Not only there is great talent but the artistic temperament leads to all sorts of drama. This show was the brain child of Sarah Jessica Parker.
The cast is China Chow who is host/judge, Jerry Salz , and art critic, and Bill Powers as judges and Simon de Pury as mentor.
Please note this show was on in the US in 2011.
Work Of Art: The Next Great Artist Series 2 starts on Studio on Tuesday 8 January at 8.30pm.

A lot of reality TV is seen as being trashy, like Geordie Shore or The Bachelor, however there is a lot of reality TV that showcases some amazing talent, and Work of Art – The Next Great Artist is one of those shows.
This show is a competition involving fourteen artists who are battling it out to win the prize of an exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum. This is NOT a shabby prize at all.
Each week the up-and-coming artists are given different challenges to showcase their talents but also they must avoid elimination. It is a fabulous concept that enables these people who do not have art world connections and may struggle to get their talent noticed to showcase themselves on a national stage. Well in fact an international stage as it has been screened in a number of countries.
The host and also judge is China Chow, and the other judges are Bill Power, Jerry Saltz, and Jeanne Greenberg Rohatyn. Also Simon De Pury is a mentor.
The show comes from the Bravo stable who have an excellent track record with these sorts of shows. They conceived Project Runway , Top Chef and Shear Genius.
And if you think reality TV is not for hipsters you are wrong. As one of the judges Bill Power said in an interview “You know if Andy Warhol was alive today he would want to be a co-producer on a reality art competition”.
The show starts on STUDIO tonight 14 March at 8.30pm.
The only negative is this show screened in the US in 2010 and it is disappointing that it took so long to get onto Australian screens.
And yes an Australian version on this show would be fabulous.
