Bobby Flynn album review

The Sydney Morning Herald has done a review of Bobby Flynn’s first album, Out Front. Bobby a popular contestant in the 2006 Australian Idol series, has shown “real musicians” can use Australian Idol as a vehicle to musical credibility.

He would be pleased with the review which concludes with “He’s more comfortable with his own songs, which toy with vulnerability without completely opening up. That, presumably, will come with experience and confidence. For the moment, he’s a very interesting young talent who may yet grow into something special. Not an Idol then”

I dont think he has any credibility within the realm of “real musician”. Going on a program like idol, one looses any integrity they might have had. Good luck, but I’d rather play to 10 people in the back room of a smelly pub, than be associated with such a souless industry like Channel 10.

I tend to disagree re: Bobby Flynn losing his credibility. I thought the season he was in the best yet with the diversity of singers and musicians.

I think he utilised the show to showcase himself to a whole new audience. In a few years everyone will everyone will have forgotten he was on Idol.

He is now making a fulltime living from music, that has got to be better then flipping burgers.
