The Bachelor – Exclusive Interview With Katherine

Katherine Schmidhofer the 33 year old child psychologist was eliminated from The Bachelor last night. She made it to the final five without getting that much airtime but as she tells me she was not in it for the fame but to find love.

Tim is now left with Ali, Danielle, Anna and Rochelle to decide who is going to be his lady love.

Katherine spoke to me about her time on the show, why she applied and her feelings for Tim.

Reality Ravings: Why did you apply to go on The Bachelor?

Katherine: Firstly taking chance off a different way of finding love. Secondly I have actually been a fan of the US version, it is my little guilty pleasure. I knew the show well and I knew people have got married and had kids following that show and I thought it was worth a go.

RR: Now you made top five, which is very impressive, but you did not get that much screen time were you disappointed with that?

Katherine: I am definitely the lady of mystery of the show. I was not disappointed I did not do it for the fame element. For me I was very protective of myself and my career going into something like this and I was there purely for that intention. I have no issue that I was not the star of the show. For me it was about the relationship. Last night’s episode was a bit tough to watch. I knew because I had had such little screen time that I knew it was going to showcase me a lot. It was tough to watch yourself be dumped on national television and cry. I don’t cry in public very often and I was feeling a little bit teary and my phone was going crazy with friends and family. Most of the time when relationships fall over you are left wondering what happened. In some ways I got a lot of closure last night and it was nice to hear the things Tim had to say about me that were positive. I felt I had a really strong connection with Tim, and several times last night there were references to feelings he had to all five of us and that he could potentially fall in love with any of us.

RR: Did you actually like him? Did you think of him as boyfriend material?

Katherine: Absolutely. As soon as I got out of that limo it was attraction from day dot. Any of the time I spent with him the feelings got stronger and we got to know each other better. There was so much common ground between Tim and I probably due to our careers.  I am 33 years-old and all my friends are married with kids. My Saturday nights often entail hanging out with the kids. I love that but also I leave there and think that is another weekend that has not got me a step closer to having my own family.

RR: By being on the show has it opened up other dating opportunities?

Katherine: I have not put myself out there yet. I wanted to wait until last night was done and wanted closure from that. I had feelings for him. For some of the girls who did not develop feelings for Tim it was easier for them to move on. I am ready and I am hoping it will open some doors and I am hoping the man I am meant to spend the rest of my life with comes running through one.

RR: I reckon it is not a bad dating strategy going on a dating show as people now know that you are willing to be out there. One of the most entertaining things about The Bachelor was all the scenes in the house with the girls. Was it starting to get competitive and bitchy?

Katherine: I could not speak more positively about the girls we had a lot of fun together. I have made lifelong friends. I have a whole new social circle and I go out with them every weekend. We all tried to be as respectful of each other as we could as you wanted to have your time with Tim as well as giving others a go who have not had that opportunity. You were living in a house 24/7 with nowhere to go but we go on really well. It was sad when they went.

RR: Who are you closest to?

Katherine: Sarah, Laura, Emily, Stacey, Ali, Anna and Rochelle. It has been really good for me as most of my friends are married and now I have this new social life. I have learnt a lot too. Every girl that left learnt something. It took about a week for me to learn my lesson. I had not realised how guarded I was in relationships. I am going to put myself out there and if I get hurt I get hurt.

RR: Would you go on another reality TV show and if so which one?

Katherine: This has only been the show that I have watched and believed in. I would never touch anything else. It was never about being on TV.

Big Brother Live Shows – What Exactly Do They Mean By Live?

Screen shot 2013-10-30 at 10.33.02 PM

For the second week in a row Sydney has not had the Big Brother eviction show live. Now last week was no big deal there were dreadful bush fires occurring but now there are not and normal transmission needs to occur especially for next Wednesday’s finale. It is treating the loyal Sydney viewers with contempt.

Sure Brisbane, Adelaide, Northern Territory and Western Australia are delayed but let’s be frank Sydney is the largest viewing market.

Tonight the live show started at 7.00pm in Melbourne and Tasmania but it was live nowhere else in Australia.

Not only is not live but there a lot of Sydneysiders are not aware that it is already screening in Melbourne until they get hit with a spoiler on Twitter or Facebook or even this blog.

Here are just some of the comments people were saying on Twitter:

Tully continuing to show oodles of personal charm tweeted this:

Screen shot 2013-10-30 at 10.05.17 PMDo Sydneysiders need to realise the TV world does not revolve around them or should Big Brother make sure the show starts at 7.00pm in line with the other eastern standard time states.

Big Brother – Well That Is The End Of Jaded

Considering Ed is the love of Jade’s life she did not become as hysterical Tully did on elimination night when someone went. There were no banging her fists against the door to the outside either. Jade did turn around and sob “It should have been me”. She is so smitten she would have gladly walked out of that door to save Ed.

Ed live on stage was basically the same as Ed in the house, he was giving nothing away and he was still very non-committal about Jade.

Sonya of course asked about Ed’s cards and what they were. He said it was to take on Tim then later admitted he did not know if he had any.

When Sonia asked if being with Jade had been a strategy he denied it and said it progressed naturally. Yeah progressed as all his mates got punted out of the house.

He was extremely coy about the Jade and whether they would continue seeing each other outside of the house. He said it is a wait and see situation and they will have boyfriend/girlfriend chat once she is out. If that relationship lasts longer then a month out of the house it will be very surprising indeed.

Jade should be ready to be dumped as she admitted she was a douche bag magnet.

Drew  is more enthusiastic over his potential relationship with Tully. He said distance did not bother him about him as he would have lots of time on his hands after Big Brother finished. No work on the horizon for him then.

Tahan was in the diary room and bitching about Jade’s conversation. Saying she was boring as she was just says silly things about the clouds, she also remarked that Jade and Ed don’t fight as Jade just caters to him.

They won the weekly challenge this week and Ben made another return appearance this time on a video of him visiting the Mater Children’s Hospital.

Apart from the elimination there were some amusing moments from tonight’s episode.

It was hilarious in the diary room when Tim was given his eviction night jacket back . He was perplexed that he did not have to do anything for it and he could just take it. He thought if he did it would be bad luck and that it meant he was going home.

The line of the night was when Mike Goldman in  a voiceover for footage of Jade and Ed’s relationship said “In true Prince Charming fashion Ed keeps his cards close to his chest.” said Mike Goldman.

Jade at a dinner said the greater prize on Big Brother was Ed rather then the money.  He at the same time said the same thing. The next day she questioned him about it and he said it was a hypothetical question and she said “I knew you were only saying that because I did”. Then Ed asked Jade if she had been thinking about that all day. She denied it, but Ed and the viewer knew she had been. Jade also started talking about how she would pick to meet the love of her life over $250,000. If Jade wins Ed’s family might be able to recoup some of their money spent saving him.

As the Jaded conversation was going on in the kitchen Tahan said “I would like to be a fly on the wall to listen to what they say”.  Drew responded “You would be a bored fly”.

What happens now there is no more nominations and the viewer starts voting for the winner. There will be a double eviction on Monday.

Sophia Pou Has A Post Dancing With The Stars Prima Donna Moment

Sophia Pou was eliminated from Dancing With The Stars last night. She received the second lowest score of the evening and was bottom two with struggling dancer Brendan Jones.

However Brendan a popular radio host in Sydney survived and it was Pou who was sent home.

It appears Pou had a bit of a prima donna moment when it came to fulfilling one of her media commitments as she did not want to be interviewed by her former My Kitchen Rules colleague Matt Newell. Channel 7 informed the 7HO FM breakfast hosts that Sophia was not going to be available to do the interview.

She was interviewed on the other Hobart radio station. Apparently her and Matt clashed when they were on the show.

However Matt has now had his own prima donna moment and is refusing to interview any of the other contestants eliminated from Dancing With The Stars. And yes my eyes are rolling at both of them.

Beauty School Cop Out Starts Tonight On MTV

If you like UK semi-scripted reality TV like The Only Way Is Essex, Geordie Shore or The Valleys you might like this new show Beauty School Cop Out starting tonight on MTV at 8.30pm.

Yes it is set in a Beauty School.

Here is the drill:

MTV has plucked from obscurity eight appearance obsessed kids for a new reality show, ‘Beauty School Cop Outs‘. Premiering Wednesday October 30 @ 8:30pm, the hair-raising characters who will be guided by experts in a plush salon in Manchester will be given the chance of a lifetime to kick start their beauty careers – learning waxing, shaving, tattooing – and practising on real customers. What could possibly go wrong?!

Meet our boys – there’s Calvin our Beyonce obsessed Scouse drag queen who wants to learn all the make-up skills to enable him to pass on the ’drag legacy’. Daniel aka ‘Protein Boy’ who is a gym fanatic, phobic about fat people and is often mistaken for being gay so strict is his beauty regime. Jeremy, the Irish model and lothario who would never miss his weekly manicure and lists looking good as his top priority in life. Richard who states that his body is a temple, works as a club doorman as he thinks it’s the best place to score women and believes working in a beauty salon could be another great place to pull.

Then there are our girls – Barmaid Sacha and the baby of the group, dreams of becoming a make-up artist to the stars, aided by a multitude of wigs and varying shades of tan she is forever changing her look. Self-confessed Barbie Savannah, has all of her make-up tattooed on and says this was the most painful experience of her life even more painful than breaking her arm – but obviously worth it to this beauty fiend. Not a fan of the natural look, dancer Scarlett has been fake tanning since the age of 14 and dreams of one day having her own beauty range so other girls can look as fake and over the top as her. Always needing to be the centre of attention, Tara the MILF of the academy is not afraid to speak her mind leaving her unpopular with other girls and despite admitting having very shaky hands she thinks that beauty is the career for her.

You are sure to fall in love with this hilarious new cast as you laugh with and at them on their journey to beauty greatness, starting from the bottom pulling hair from plugs and sweeping floors just like in the real world, witnessing their beauty casualties and triumphs along the way.

Can’t wait for all the hair-pulling greatness to begin? Get tweeting @MTVBeautySchool.
