Off topic, but have to comment, I was following one of your links RR and it took me to a link of ‘The Boss’ on the beach at Cottesloe W.A., is he looking hot or what? He is 64 and has the body of a man half his age. He is doing a huge tour, what I would give to go to one of his concerts. I went to one about 100 years ago and he didn’t disappoint then, somehow I don’t think he would ever disappoint. Love him!

I know Tully is not popular here but it looks like her Twitter is down or gone? Her account was verified recently. No idea what is going on with her.

May be a problem on my end.

Great bit of reality TV on ABC News 24 right now – Schapelle Corby parole decision!

5 Andrea { 02.07.14 at 7:26 pm }

Thanks Dr T, just turned it over.

6 AwEsOmE { 02.07.14 at 7:33 pm }

Big Bogan reality news, Dr. T!

7 Trent { 02.10.14 at 10:11 am }

Actually Most of the bogans on my facebook have the same tired line about Schapelle. “No sympathy the junkie is guilty”

Not sure what happened with the saying Innocent until PROVEN guilty…

8 Dr T { 02.10.14 at 10:13 am }

Well Trent, she was proven guilty within the Indonesian legal system. You’re most welcome to cast doubt, but the conviction stands until it is quashed. If she wasn’t guilty it’s unlikely to be proved in the next 10 years anyway

9 Culinary Boner { 02.10.14 at 10:45 am }

Ahhhh. The “Schapelle is innocent” brigade. The bogan equivalent of them 9/11 ‘truthers’?

10 Dr T { 02.10.14 at 10:47 am }
11 brain dead dave { 02.10.14 at 10:55 am }

Schappelle’s drugz was planted there in that thar boogie board by the Loch Ness Monster. Everyone knows that.

12 Gabby { 02.10.14 at 11:04 am }

Thanks CB, good read. I never knew that about her dad. I always thought it was her brother she was covering for.
I wonder if we will ever know?

13 Georgie { 02.10.14 at 11:09 am }

Yes, Schapelle was found guilty by the Indonesian legal system for importing cannabis and was sentenced to 20 years gaol. What I find hard to accept about that is, Umar Patek got 20 years for building the bombs that blew up two nightclubs in 2002, killing 202 people.

14 Dr T { 02.10.14 at 11:15 am }

Sure – I think that’s screwy too Georgie, but not our legal system, different folks, different strokes. The lesson is don’t transit drugs through SE Asia – remember that Australian citizen (I think he was of Vietnamese extraction) who was executed in Singapore. It’s not like people don’t know the risks

15 Dr T { 02.10.14 at 11:16 am }
Breaking news! Schapelle being released today…

… oh, and 1/2 of south eastern Australia is on fire and people are losing their properties… but at least we got our news priorities right

16 Trent { 02.10.14 at 11:24 am }

Yes and i could be executed for going to Uganda just for being gay.

It doesn’t mean the law is appropriate.

The fact Schapelle received a 20 year sentence is a joke.. Guilty or not.

17 Gabby { 02.10.14 at 11:33 am }

Dr T there has been a real life two part movie on SBS the last two Sunday nights about the Vietnamese guy you mentioned. Silly boy he was, then most of these mules are. Think it’s a quick, easy way to make a buck.

18 Anonymous { 02.10.14 at 11:43 am }

Dr T, #14 – agree wholeheartedly on the stupidity of doing the crime. I’ve heard of cases where travellers are used to transport drugs unknowingly too. Lesson – don’t travel in SE Asia full-stop.

19 Georgie { 02.10.14 at 11:49 am }

#18 was me.

20 Dr T { 02.10.14 at 12:05 pm }

Will have to cancel my Ugandan honeymoon and just go back to the North Korean package deal

22 Culinary Boner { 02.10.14 at 12:19 pm }

There are plenty of really harsh laws around the globe, e.g. one months gaol for kissing –

Complaining these laws are unfair to those that transgress them is a pointless game. Better to simply decide that, as a visitor to the countries in question (including Bali, Indonesia), you’d be best served doing the rational thing and simply abiding by their laws. The same goes for those of other cultures who want to ignore our laws. Though of course our magistrates do seem more inclined to cut the offenders some slack compared to their overseas counterparts.

The tale of former rugby league player, Paul Hayward, is cautionary and a reminder that drugs are viewed as a capital offence in most of SE Asia, so a prison term normally reserved for a murderer back here is not unusual over there –

I find myself in the very unusual position of agreeing with Andrew Bolt:

23 all happening { 02.10.14 at 12:37 pm }

Did anyone see the aunt? OMG, Schapelle’s mum is an angel compared to her. What a family!
