Young Talent Time Cast Starting To Be Announced

Young Talent Time on Channel Ten is cast and the first young kid on the show is Adrien his is 15 years old, and it looks like the show is moving with the times and the cast is not going to be all anglo. He will be on The Project tonight on Network Ten.

I know the show is not strictly reality TV, however I do feel a sense of nostalgia about the show.

Rob Mills will be the host, and Tina Arena is also involved.

I suspect it is going to find a whole new fan base of children of the previous generation of Young Talent Time fans.

I really hope this isnt a success – ssoooooo cringeworthy.

Ten just need to seriously (no pun) be demolished and built back together again.

More nauseating Jack Vidgen clones on the horizon. I hope this sinks without a trace like the appalling My Kid’s A Star.

Agree SEDI and bdd – couldn’t stand all the warm and fuzzy of the first YTT and I still find that type of thing nauseatingly smarmy.

Oh look, aren’t they just wonderful – no!

Agree that the cute kid performer stuff is boring and embarrassing. I’d prefer to see Ten do “Slapper Songstress” or something similar involving karaoke crooner mums who are being given one last chance for stardom, escape from a suburban mundane existence and regular spa and champaign nights with Kyle Sandilands now he’s gone off chicks in their 20s. Cute kids get their chance with the Schools Spectacular. Isn’t that enough?

Won’t be watching this crap. I’m saving myself for the next 15 year old on X Factor. By the way, I’ve been told on good authority that surprisingly YTT when it started was not all Anglo – Vicki Broughton was part Japanese. My crazy aunt remembers her because she used to get mad with jealousy when that ‘slapper’ got too close to the love of her life Rod Kirkham. ‘Well, at least it wasn’t Jamie Redfern’, she says. LOLS :)

@Georgie – I wasnt alive when the original aired, was it really THAT big in its prime? I have never understood the premise of families coming together to watch almost-talentless children sing and dance. I usually have to switch the channel when that happens on AGT.

@CB – I think ‘Search For The Next Yummy-Mummy Burlesque Dancer’ seems like a much better idea. Apparently this area has quite a growing following.

SEDI – I don’t really know how big it was at the time, I was busy enjoying my youth and YTT music definitely wasn’t on my play list.

Unfortunately it was big back then. I used to vomit each time I heard Johnny Young sing All My Loving. Will Rob Mills be singing that, too? TV hasn’t come a long way if we have to recycle such schmaltzy drivel. Can we have Countdown back instead please?

Auto-tuned to the max. Yuck.

Ah, well then I guess this probably wont catch on with younger kids. Expect a stinker!

You all read very bitter!

I just stumbled across this website. Although I have decided not to investigate further my sadness during my perusal has been to obvious sadness and negativity of the above comments. Stop festering in negativity. The sun is out and the world is full of activity although I do not wish to offend I would suggest that you all go and join in.

I personally think this will be a really good show and if all of you hate it so much why are you on this page. These guys obviously have talent or they wouldn’t let them go on live tv. Have some respect!

Rose – I don’t think blogs are exclusively for the posting of positive opinions.

It would be a tad one sided and boring if you couldn’t express a negative opinion – in fact you wouldn’t have a blog if that was the case.

I loved YTT as a kid growing up in the early 80s. My sis and I had a scrap book with all the TV week clippings we found and we even wrote to Dannii Minogue and got a hand written letter back. All I remember about the letter was that hand writing was extremely childish with those silly circles for dots over the i and those weird a’s and g’s. Wish I’d kept the letter!

See it was wholesome, positive family entertainment back then and was for a time the only show my mother (a very conservative piano and opera teacher) would let us watch. LOL she mainly wanted us to watch for the contestants in the hope they’d be prodigies playing piano or violin, but couldn’t avoid that it exposed us to contemporary music!

But you’d never really admit that you watched or liked YTT – it was way too daggy to confess to that, even when I was in primary school, but judging by an article I read this week about YTT of the 70s and 80s, everybody watched it.

I’ll be watching this first ep out of nostalgia and curiosity, but I’m not keen on Rob Mills as host. Only memory I have about him was in New Idea after his infamous night with Paris Hilton – accompanying photos of them scantily clad on a hotel balcony. So he definitely doesn’t give me the jolly, fatherly wholesome Johnny Young persona, which was a huge part of the popularity of the original YTT.

Fides, I’d forgotten what Millsy was famous for, I mean infamous for – rooting Paris. *snigger*

18 brain dead dave { 01.17.12 at 4:06 pm }

Millsy used to also compere a bottom feeding late night game show called The Mint.

These remakes rarely work for me. It was bad the first time around.
