Beauty And The Geek – A Lot Of Snogging Tonight
Is this show riggged? Adam gets a question about Alisa Camplin and what sport she was in, and also asked which team basketball player Lauren Jackson played for. Whereas Jimmy was asked what sport was Dawn Fraser famous for, and the names of the Williams sisters. Jimmy is good geek talent they needed to keep him in.
Bendeguz is obviously hamming it up his posture after he won the roller derby challenge was fake. For an actor or fake geek he actually isn’t giving great TV. I don’t see a Home and Away contract coming his way soon.
There was some romance on the show with Mackenzie and Troy hooking up. Helen realised Troy was making their team vulnerable for nomination of elimination as the other girls would be peeved he had not hooked up with them.
Jimmy looked a bit hurt when told what his partner was up to. However he justified it with a “Luke saves the universe, and Han gets the girl”.
Lachan and Jordan’s romance seemed genuine and she was more enthusiastic then him with the tongue action. Hopefully this will be the first genuine Beauty and The Geek romance.
They were trying to hint at a potential attraction between Theo and Helen, but as seen in a previous blog post Helen has a boyfriend.
Adam and Emma were eliminated.

Beauty And The Geek – Is Helen The Girl Geek Also A Fake?
After the revelation that Bendeguz was a fake, TV WEEK also has found out that Helen the girl geek has a boyfriend.
WTF? I thought these geeks were in the house to acquire the skills to get a bit of action from the opposite sex.
The article (hard copy only) says:
“I have a boyfriend,” Helen reveals. The chemistry tutor adds that her boyfriend, Dutch Sudoku champion Bram de Laat, needn’t worry about her being in a house with a bunch of male geeks.
“I think he’ll have a great laugh watching it – the challenges are fun!” the 26-year-old explains. While her male counterparts are keen to learn the art of dating and acquire social skill, Helen admits she had a greater reason to take on the competition.
“I want to be a role model for young girls,” she says. “There are unhealthy role models in the fashion, singing and music worlds, which unrealistic to a certain extent.”
I do wish they had a real female geek on the show, however I get her point about unrealistic role models in the media. It always irks me when 19 year old beauty pageant contestants want to be role models.

Beauty And The Geek – Is Bendeguz A Fake?

To think I thought it was the beauty’s were the fakes this year as surely no person can be that dumb, however the Sunday Telegraph is reporting geek Benedguz Daniel Devenyl-Botos is a fake.
It appears the geek with the over the top moustache is an actor.
The article says:
VIEWERS of Channel 7 reality show Beauty and the Geek have been duped, with one contestant admitting he’s not really a nerd at all but an actor.
Despite being presented as a bookish “historian” on the TV dating contest, Bendeguz Daniel Devenyi-Botos, who has a string of theatre and short-film credits to his name, has confessed to dropping out of university to focus on acting. He told The Sunday Telegraph he signed up to the program to boost his acting career.
Devenyi-Botos has studied at the Sydney Theatre School, the Actors College of Theatre and Television, and the Actors Centre Australia, and he has a professional headshot and casting card. But the 21-year-old’s background has been concealed from fans of the show.
Devenyi-Botos told The Sunday Telegraph the show’s producers were aware he was an actor. In fact they had approached him to be on the program — in which beautiful women and socially inept men are paired up and compete for prizemoney — after seeing him act.
“(The show’s producers) found me while I was in a play,” the part-time patisserie worker confirmed.
“I have no idea why (they) chose not to mention that I’m an actor.”
Beauty and the Geek host Bernard Curry recently insisted all the geeks on the popular dating show were the real deal, and the network last week stood by its claims Devenyi-Botos was a nerd.
“Bendeguz is currently studying history at university and his love of historical events is how he is identified on the show,” a spokesman said. “Acting, among other pursuits outside of uni, is also an interest of his.”
If he is an actor he is not doing a very good job of it, as personally I have not found Bendeguz as entertaining as his profile suggests. Jimmy, Julian and Lachlan who do appear genuine.
However from his actors profile from Shakespeare by the Sea it would appear he is more into drama than comedy.

Beauty And The Geek – Why Is This Show Goddamn Entertaining?
Beauty and Geek remains a mystery to me, it is a show in theory I think I will hate, but again last night watching the first episode of series three I had quite a few laugh out loud moments.
Both the beauties and the geeks are likeable, ok some more than others. Jimmy and Lachlan are the star geeks at the moment, but who know who else will emerge as top geek.
A few thought from the episode:
- In the pyjama party scene where the beauties walked in scantily clad every geek had a cushion around their nether regions;
- However I am not sure what they did in the spa but hopefully none of the beauties were using Julian’s prescription goggles to dive under water;
- Gaia described herself as a part-time Nanny would you let her look after your kids;
- I liked the way they picked each other it was quite funny and pleasing that none of the girls were negative about the guys they selected;
- Jimmy is very funny, and reminds me very much of Xenogene from season one of the show;
- It was interesting the geeks reaction to a good looking guy in the house, as Jimmy said “It took him back to school”. Suddenly Jimmy wasn’t going to be the alpha male in the house or so he thinks. It will be interesting to see how all this plays out in the next few episodes;
- Bendeguz who appears to be the most eccentric is not as entertaining as I thought he was going to be, but that could change once he feels more comfortable on camera;
- The girls having to do that wipeout game with the food was hilarious, particularly that they had no idea about where pavlova or black forest cake was from;
- Darlene and Nathan were the first to be eliminated.
Will Helen and a geek find romance? Will a beauty and a geek find romance?

Beauty And The Geek Australia On Seven From Thursday 22 September
Channel Seven is going to have a reality TV trashathon on Thursday nights with Beauty and The Geek kicking off at 8.30pm.
However the good news for Four Wedding fans this will also be on Thursday nights at 7.30pm – trashtastic.
There will be ten beauty’s and geeks vying for the $100,000 prize money.
Beauty and the Geek is in its third season and this year they have mixed it up by having a female geek, and therefore a male “beauty”.
Helen 26 year old is the female geek, and she has a double degree in Commerce and Science, she is hoping this experience will introduce her to more sporty and social skill pursuits. She feels uncomfortable in groups larger than two. It will be interesting how she finds the share house then.
The other geeks appear to have two things in common, facial hair and gaming. The geeks are:
Adam – 25 from Victoria, he is weather obsessed and a remote area meteorologist.
He has no relationship history to speak of, but believes he has never actually had the opportunity.
“It sort of feels a little like a monkey on my back – the more the monkey stays, the heavier it gets… like a football team never being able to win a premiership,” he says of his lacklustre love life.
However he can dance as he has won medals in Latin dancing.
Bendeguz – 21 from NSW does not see himself as a geek but just as a unique individual. He is currently studying a Bachelor of Arts in History. He likes to be immaculately dressed.
“The Interbellum period of the 1920s and 1930s in my eyes is the most vivid and dynamic period of humanity.”
This history buff is hoping to learn how to handle himself in front of what he believes is “the biological perfection”.
I think this is the geek everyone is going to love to hate.
Colin – 23 year old from Victoria is a Cambridge graduate.
Colin is hopeful of making a good first impression, but says he often struggles with the transition to a romantic relationship.
“The whole dating thing is not my bag,” he admits. “And quite frankly when I see someone who’s really beautiful, they kind of go into a sort of stereotype in my mind, then they become that stereotype of like a vapid blonde.
“While I can talk to women, I am always Mr Nice Guy and am immediately relegated to the Friend Zone. I would like to learn to be a more sexually-attractive individual.”
Gilbert – 19 year old from Victoria is currently studying a double degree in Science and mechanical engineering.
“They [Girls] regard me as a bit of a weirdo. But they’re my friends, so I guess, a lovable weirdo. I don’t have a very good history with girls, so I figured it might be a good opportunity to develop my skills, as it were, and just become a bit more of a confident person,” he says.
Jimmy – 26 year old is an IT support technician.
He was once dumped for being too boring, and ever since Jimmy’s been working on his confidence.
Julian – 25 year old is currently studying a PhD in molecular genetics and biochemistry looking at cholesterol homeostasis.
Confident and thoughtful, Julian has many female friends, but so far it hasn’t been effective in winning him a date.
“If there was a single girl who was interesting I would probably say immediately, ‘You are interesting, let’s go out’, which might not actually be socially wise or sensible.”
Lachlan – is 22 year old from Queensland, he is studying law.
Lachlan’s interests include constitutional law and politics, and he enjoys visiting state and federal parliament in his spare time to watch Question Time.
Describing his ideal life partner as “someone who is emotionally stable – and hot”, Lachlan says he hopes to gain some confidence through his Beauty.
“I’ve built up this wall in my head where I think that people I’m attracted to, or attractive girls, are somehow different to anyone else. But I need to just take that leap, and just sort of have that wall knocked down.”
Nathan – is a 19 year old from South Australia, he is currently studying a double degree in commerce and applied finance. He has never been kissed. He loves gaming.
Theo – is 23 year old from NSW he is a mathematician.
“I’ve never figured out how to actually start a conversation with the opposite sex,” he explains. “I don’t know how to talk to girls. It would be great if I could figure out how to talk to girls.”
The son of a doctor and an alternative medicine therapist, Theo says he always grew up around intelligent people.
“I’ve never known anyone who’s academically-challenged. I don’t know how to relate to them.
“And well, intellect’s done nothing for me in terms of love. It’s seems to abandon me, frankly.”
The Beauty’s are:
Darlene – 22 year old from the Northern Territory. She is a Casino hostess and has modelled.
“I don’t label people because I’ve been labelled my entire life,” she admits. “I think everyone just sees me and they think, ‘Oh, she’s gonna be such a stuck up cow.’ But really, I’m not.”
Dolly – 21 year old from Queensland wanting a career in hair and beauty.
“In life in general, I’d say being beautiful has helped me because, you know, I probably wouldn’t have a job if didn’t look like this. I’ve made money off of the way I look and that makes me want to maintain it as well.”
Emma - 21 year old from Queensland is the reigning 2011 Miss FHM. Emma is used to being the centre of attention. But within her own family this receptionist is actually the odd one out when it comes to academics – her brother is an architect and her sister a teacher.
Gaia – 19 years old from WA is a part time nanny. She is hoping for some intellectual stimulation from her beauty and geek experience.
“I love shopping and all that sort of stuff but hopefully out of this I can find something deeper to be interested about,” she says. “Like more of a less superficial kind of interest.”
Jacelle – 20 year old was meter maid on the Gold Coast, she is now a trainee barmaid. “I can talk to anyone. It doesn’t matter who they are as I don’t judge,” she says.
Jordan – 20 year old from NSW is a NRL Tigers Cheerleader. She is open to love.
“I’ve always been attracted to muscles and looks and I’ve always had my heart broken, so you never know. I’ve never really gotten close to a nerd to be honest. My door isn’t shut; it’s open. So we’ll see,” she says.
Mackenzie – 21 year old from WA.
Perth-born, daddy’s girl Mackenzie admits to being a shopaholic, wearing dresses only once and shoes just five times before replacing them.
“I’m obsessed with clothes and shoes,” she says. “I love my shoes. Every time I wear them I wash them, clean them and spray them.”
This covergirl describes her style as ‘classy rock chick’ and hopes she’ll be able to teach her geek to take pride in his appearance.
“I’m very open with what doesn’t look good so I think I’m going to be good with guidance.”
The geeks might not be prepared for her who says she doesn’t often feel disappointed in life.
“I tend to get everything I want so I don’t usually get disappointed. Such a vain comment, but it’s just the truth,” she says.
I think this will be the beauty we love to hate.
Maddy – 20 year old from NSW is a dance teacher.
“I do competitive cheerleading like ‘Bring It On’ stuff. It’s like lots of tumbling, lots of throwing in the air. You get muscles from it. No-one believes me. Everyone thinks it’s running around with pom poms but it’s totally not that at all.”
Sarah – 20 years old from NSW, she does promotional work and has been modelling since she was 12 years old. She is obsessed with leopard print.
Troy – is the 21 year old male beauty. He is single and a personal trainer. He says one of his biggest skills is helping people connect, and he hopes to weave some magic if there are any shy housemates.
When he’s not surfing the waves, Troy also works as a model and has dabbled in labouring work as well. But he knows looks aren’t everything.
“It doesn’t matter how good looking you are, you’ve got to get along with everyone,” he says.
Beauty and the Geek again looks like it is going to be highly entertaining. The show will be hosted again. by Bernard Curry.
Beauty and The Geek on Channel Seven from Thursday 22 September at 8.30pm.

Beauty And The Geek Is Back And It Looks Cheesier Then Ever
There is one winner from The X Factor already and he didn’t even get through to bootcamp. Luke O’Dell who has gone international with his song Introvert Extrovert, and also it is now being used to advertise the upcoming season of Beauty and The Geek.
Whoever thought of using this song in Network Seven is a genius.
No word on a start date for Beauty and The Geek but it looks like another great season. This year there will be a female geek, and a male himbo. But I do wonder how many of those beauty’s are from a drama school as surely noone can be that dumb.

Beauty And Geek Star Tamika’s Violent Arrest
One of the “beauties” from last year’s Beauty and the Geek series has been arrested on the Gold Coast for public drunkeness.
However the story does not stop there, the arrest has now been referred to the Queensland’s Crime and Misconduct Commission as it is alleged the arresting officers were violent and abusive.
Nine MSN reports:
Beauty and the Geek runner-up Tamika Chesser has alleged police officers shoved her head into the footpath and told her she dressed like a “slut” when they arrested her for public drunkenness in Surfers Paradise last week, according to the Courier Mail.
The 20-year-old Ralph swimwear model admitted slapping an officer during the incident, but said she snapped at the “wrongful arrest”.
“I was angry, I was upset, I was scared (and) I slapped the police officer. That’s how some people react when they’re so emotionally upset,” she was quoted as saying.
Chesser denies she was drunk and said that up until slapping the policeman, she had done nothing wrong.
She said she was trying to call a friend to pick her up when three police officers confronted her and said she was going to have to come with them.
“They twisted my arm around to my back, put my head into the ground and shoved it down,” the Mailreported.
Ms Chesser said the arrest was “scary and humiliating,” adding that she was not a threat to people and such violence from the police was not necessary.
She also claims police told her that her dress was too short.
“I didn’t know it was against the law to wear a short dress,” she told the Courier Mail.
She spent the night behind bars and was charged with assaulting police, resisting arrest and public drunkenness.
The reality TV star is seeking legal advice ahead of a court appearance on May 12.
That is hilarious she actually slapped the police officer and she is admitting it to the media.

Beauty And The Geek Season 3 Casting Call
With all the will they or won’t they renew The X Factor, I had completely forgotten about Beauty and the Geek. However this popular and entertaining show deserves to have a third season.
But as you know what makes a good reality show is it cast, and Channel Seven are now looking for beauties and geeks. I know previously they have had trouble finding geeks.
If you want to apply go to the official website and filling out the application form at:www.beautyandthegeek.com.au
Last year’s winners were Michael Price and Jessie Byrne took home $100,000.
Applicants must be aged over 18.
The third series of Beauty and the Geek Australia will premiere on Seven later this year.

Beauty And The Geek – Michael and Jessica Win
The editors on Beauty and the Geek deserve a payrise, as each week I think “do I really have to watch this show”, but each week after two minutes I am completely sucked in.
I am not sure whether it is the likeable characters, the stupid challengers, or just the the fast pace of the show.
Michael and Jessica deserved to win as they were both lovely, But Michael may also have won the love prize with Tamika.I would be surprised if they do become an item.
Tamika was the real star of the show, with her Anna Nicole Smith looks, and her airhead but bubbly personality. She really needs to get her own show. Or worst case scenario a cover of FHM.
Channel Seven will be desperate to do another series. However whether they can find the geeks will be the issue. Maybe they need to plumb the depths of Young Labor or Young Liberal’s for some “talent”.

Beauty And The Geek – A Few Thoughts
Channel Seven must be wondering what the formula is a for a successful reality show.
Beauty and the Geek again this year is a huge hit for them, easily hitting the magic million mark and beyond, and Four Weddings which they probably produced with change from their petty cash tin was fantastic as well.
But then the productions they have poured money into like The X Factor, and Iron Chef have not rated as well as expected.
However The X Factor is starting to pull some decent figures, so hopefully it will be renewed for a second season.
They will definitely be renewing Beauty and the Geek for a third season, but their problem is finding the geeks. Rumour had it they struggled this year to find nerds.
It is an engaging show when watching it with good looking dim-witted girls, and guys who are brainy but allegedly socially inept.
Some thoughts on the series:
- The show appears to be harmless, but I do think some of these boys are getting a bit emotionally involved. Watching Tim last night tell Kara how he felt was painful.
- But I did laugh when he was teary when she reached over to get a tissue and then used it herself, I thought she was going to hand it to him;
- Tamika is fantastic, puffed up lips and all, and needs to become Brynne Edelsten’s intern now;
- I am secretly a little bit in love with Michael, as he has a cheeky sense of humour, so I hope he gets a decent girlfriend;
- Daniel Iachini is no geek, but then each season one of them appears to slip through the casting net;
- Tim is a cutie now he has done is make over, and has a dry sense of humour so hopefully he will be popular with the ladies;
- I think Thomas the Hawaiian shirt enthusiast was serious when he was talking about his dancing skills.
- I find it appalling that what men what a guy wants in a girl is looks, wouldn’t Tim be bored by Kara after a few weeks?
Who is your favourite geek and beauty? I would like to see a show where the girls were geeky and the guys were the brawn. In fact I am sure it is in production somewhere in the US.
